Around SBN: NFL Roundtable: Which Draft Pick Is Most Likely To Bust?

2009 NFL Draft Open Thread - T-Minus Two Hours

I will create a new open thread every so often so people don't have to sort through all of the comments after they start to pile up. I imagine this will happen once we get around 500+ comments, or if I write an actual story. (Stories will likely only be posted if something major happens with the Lions, such as a trade or a pick.)

To keep updated with the draft, you can check out Pride of Detroit's draft tracker as well as the updates from Twitter below.  I will be posting updates in the comments as well, though I imagine others will be doing the same when picks are made. (Less work for me!)

To watch the draft on the Internet, check out NFL.com starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.  Also, don't forget to check out Bleeding Green Nation and Mile High Report, who are both blogging live from the draft.

One final thing, as I posted earlier today, is to keep it clean and nice.  I don't want to have to delete comments or ban people, but if it gets ugly I will.  Thanks and let's have some fun today guys!

Cassell

Just got six-year extension with $36 million in guarantees. Still less than Stafford. The new CBA really needs to have that rookie wage scale.

That actually makes me feel better about the money.

No way Cassel live up that deal with Dwayne Bowe vs. Moss and Welker.

Not a chance

Outside of the Belichick/McDaniels system, Cassell wil crash and burn. Pioli is high if he thinks he’s got his franchise QB.

On a Saturday?

No exams, just probably should be studying. I only have one left, though.

since the Stafford news hit, I feel...

being a Lions fans is like being Charlie Brown when he’s trying to kick a field goal and Lucy is holding the football…you think it’s going to really happen and then…AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!

Thanks again Sean for all your effort & hard work!!! This is a great site & community for Lion fans. Kudos to you!!!

creating new threads -- organizing many, many comments

Just an idea…would you want to create a new thread every time Lions pick a player, that way comments would stay (somewhat) organized and (somewhat) on-topic?

Draft-day thread: General
Draft-day thread: Stafford just got picked
Draft-day thread: Maualuga just got picked
Draft-day thread: Alex Mack just got picked

etc.

or not, whatever.

I'm probably going to do it sort of like that

I imagine it’ll end up being Round 1, then a new one after the Lions’ second pick. It all depends on how many stories I end up writing in between and how many comments there are.

man all the Sanchez mania and talk of trading up to #2..

is making me nauseous.. Stafford and Sanchez is going to be a story we are going to hear for a long time.. hopefully we are on the good end of that one..

I think we are.. as much as I wanted to vent last night.. I think Stafford is going to have a good career with CJ, as long as we build up the line. We might need a better #2 next year as much as I hate to say it..but I think Stafford is going to look better than people think. CJ made Orlovsky look good and Stafford better than DanO.

Stafford and CJ have the potential to be the best QB-WR tandem in the league

Potential is the key word there.

Allright everyone..

I’m up and awake…let’s get this draft started. My first hope is that someone like Maualuga falls to us at #20, or we trade down.

Good lord

Dedication, indeed. I tip my cap to you, HE.

Not quite 4, more like 5

The draft starts at 6 for me, and I couldn’t sleep, it’s like Christmas, plus, I wanted to get caught up on all the comments around here before the draft, it takes more than an hour somedays.

Good to see Eisen is asking tough questions

Screw you DeMaurice Smith. “No big deal.” Uh, buddy, it’s a huge deal you idiot.

Yeah, this doesn't look very good...

with respect to the looming lock-out. This guy looks like more of a hard-ass than Upshaw.

LOL

Eisen is the man.

+1

I was just explaining to my roommate how Eisen is the only (and best) part of ESPN to come to the NFL network.

Spoke out bigtime against rookie contracts an hour or so ago too

Drafting a quarterback first overall is like watching your mother-in-law drive over the edge of a cliff in your new Mercedes.

Just checked out Scott Wright's last mock draft

he has us taking- #20 – Peria Jerry, DT : #33 – William Beatty, OT : #65 – Cornelius Ingram, TE : #82 – Scott McKillop, MLB

Doesn’t seem to bad to me.

With Rachel Nichols

Her facial expressions are annoying me. You don’t need to shake your head in agreement with everything he says.
