ARE WE LIONS FANS OR WHAT ???

We have expeirenced more negative than any other team since 2000 , and if it wasn't for joey harrington , this would be a great pick . because of the bad taste in our mouth from this and matt millens many multitude of mishaps that start with M , we are all now just negative children , pouting in the corner .....I said this when we lost all of last year and I will say it again ...I SUPPORT MY TEAM , THEY NEED ME NOW WORSE THAN EVER ....I am not a fair weather fans , I am die hard to the end ( I like the cubs too ).............the kid is 21 and I hope he buys a fleet of F-150's with all his money ...give him a chance , with the right COACH , and proper training he will be a great one , and I think we have the right coaching staff to do it ....for the first time since booby ross and the second time since 1970. please stop the negative and unite.......GO LIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed – I am extremely happy to see people pulling together to support our team. The management and ownership doesn’t exactly DESERVE it, but it’s like I’ve always said – if you’re not rooting for your team, then you should probably find a new one.

GO LIONS! RESTORE THE ROAR!

Amen!

It’s not always about supporting one player or one decision, but supporting our team. The negativity is disheartening, but I can now understand all of the frustration out there. I still don’t like the off-color comments, but I’m starting to get more sympathetic after seeing a few of the more well-thought out comments from those who are upset with the Stafford pick. The Lions have been a miserable team for countless years and some feel that this is another in a long line of bad decisions.

I now know that there is nothing that I can post or say that will make those people happier about the decision. All I can say is that I’m starting to understand the frustration you feel and I hope that this year is one of progression.

That said, we do all need to get behind our team and support our new quarterback as best we can. If that’s from a distance and being cautious, that’s great. But let’s not boo him at Ford Field or openly hate the guy. Stafford has done nothing to deserve the belittling comments or the sarcastic belligerence that I’ve seen at times. All he’s wanted to do was be a Lion… and yeah, I know… he’s getting paid a king’s ransom to do it, but I really think he wants to be here. I hope I’m right. Go Stafford!

exactly...

the last thing we need is to boo a rookie qb coming to a 0-16 team with enough pressure on his shoulders as it is.

Stafford has done nothing.....oh lord how true that statement is.....

And while it may be futile to belligerently spout sarcasm……if that is how you feel, then get it out of your system. That is how I feel. I want to scream and cuss…..things are not going my way…..it will make ME feel better to do so. Once I feel better, then I can come in and be civil and maybe even logical….lol.

Stafford HAS done nothing…..and that is part of the problem. He is getting paid more guaranteed money than anyone ever has in the history of the NFL…..did you think that would foster happy happy joy joy feelings from those of us who wanted Curry for less? Maybe the guy does not deserve to be belittled, but is he here reading our thoughts? That guy is on cloud nine in NYC right now, and he could care less what anyone thinks…..he got his big payday. He just won the lottery man….his whole family is safe from the economic woes of the country and the poverty that is holding many of us down. It is a miricle that I even have the money to keep the internet, let alone buy my Mom a new house or car. He will smile and be happy, no matter what the Lions fans say, think, or do……and who wouldn’t? You slap 7 million dollars on the table in front of me, and I will lick the jelly from between your toes, smile about it, say that I enjoyed it, and then STILL jump for joy.

I LOVE THE LIONS!!!

Did I say that out loud?!?!?

So they drafted “shiny”……life goes on. I am not happy about it, and I do not have to be. If I could have one Lions wish, it would be that Matt Stafford turns out to be as good as Brady or Peyton Manning. If he is as good as they think he is….then I sure hope that they are smart enough to protect their investment. If they can do that, and bolster our defense too, we will win. WE WILL WIN!!!!

WE WILL!!!

GOOOOOOOOO LIONS!!!!

I see...

you finally got to the store and picked up some Kool-Aid. Ha, just kidding, but this is what I mean, it’s fine to be upset and doubtful, but you should still be supportive and cheer for your team.

The Lions are kind of like a bad kid, you may wish they were different and at the lowest moments think about how life would be much better if they weren’t around, but even after the life in prison, drugs, and 10 kids, you still love them and would do anything for them. (PS: I’m 23 and have no kids, so maybe I’m out of my league in this area, but Kiper’s a football “expert” and he’s never even touched a football.

That comment from me below...

was meant for you… I usually do well with hitting reply!

Alright, buddy

That’s the spirit! Hopefully I didn’t have any part of you cheering up a little ;o)

They could have picked Heyward-Bey #1

And I would have been just as upset…..but they are still my team. Nothing can change that….I might be negative, pessimistic, belligerent, and demeaning as hell, but that is just because of the way the pick makes me feel…..not because I do not want the Lions to win, or the kid to do well.

Here's my point

It’s FOOTBALL…!

Also known as a sport.

It’s a game, guys. I think from all my posting on here you guys know I’m a die hard football (more specifically Lions) fan. Football and the draft have kept me sane since I was laid off. But c’mon… This is a 21 (or so) year old kid who probably would have still entered the draft if we lived in Bizarro world and football players got payed 50k a year…

It’s not like Stafford stormed into Detroit with the demand that he be paid like he was. The system (a capitalist market no less) allows you to get as much money as you want, basically. It’s broken. But you know what?

If I could get paid 70 million dollars for any job, I’d take it. I don’t care how much other people hate it. My services have warranted said money, so why not take it? Stafford is going with the motion, and is probably way more overwhelmed about this than any of us.

There’s no blame to be placed. Someone was going to be paid exhorbitant amounts of money to do so far little than anyone else in society would just to play football for the Lions. Forget the past… Just watch football, and if you don’t like watching a team lose, reading books might be more up your alley ;)

Bottom line: Have fun and watch the games.

P.S. – Today is like Christmas to me!

I don't mind the pick

But I absolutely HATE the contract. Never the less, I’ll support him and wish him luck, and am now even more intrigued with the way the rest of the draft goes. We need to hit solidly on at least one player for each line. A good linebacker wouldn’t hurt anything either.
It’s all up to the next 36 hours or so for me.

At least it's nice to see some fans showing some support

Provides some balance to the negativity, and balance is good. I’d hate if everyone was all negative, or all positive.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
