If you look at our last 4 drafts or more..
Half the picks aren’t even on the team anymore, or aren’t worthy of starting / even being backups..
So I mean it’s not like we can really get worse.. we’ve gotten about 1 starter / consistent player per draft for the last 8 years haha..
That's pretty unneccesary
I think Kevin and the rest of the squad know that they are considered to be bottom-dwellers, even if they’re not
Kevin Smith was one of the few positive notes we had..
and deion and everyone were hatin..
Yeah, I know
But that doesn’t mean the new leader of our team needs to go apologize on behalf of Deion
Deion is just a big dbag
That interview with Crabtree was one of the most unclassy things I’ve ever seen.

Big break for the Lions coming up after our next pick
Barring a trade, of course. We would already be on a 3-round break basically had we not traded with the Jets.

We haven’t drafted a DT yet. Schwartz loves his big space-eating guys and we havn’t picked up anybody resembling that yet. Maybe he likes Fluellen

If we take Take a MLB and take taylor by moving up or if he is still there in the 6th (doubt it)
I would feel like we did well..
But if we walk away with no MLB and no new DT, and we didn’t help the OL, I would feel like the draft as a whole was a let down..
If we take MLB
Then Levy becomes a wasted pick

Thats what the late rounds are for.. half the starting MLB's in the league are average.

There are still plenty of MLB left who ACTUALLY played MLB. Switching positions is a project. The others may not be Rey Rey, but they are not projects. They would be much more prepared to start on day 1 than Levy.

So the cowboys have like 11 picks today
That has got to suck to be drafted by them. You know they are not going to end up with 11 rookies on their squad next year. Especially not 11 day two rookies. So you know that you have a worse chance of making the roster than if you got drafted by any other team in the NFL. That has got to suck.

Stillman College (not to be confused with the fictional “Hillman College”) is a historically black liberal arts college founded in 1876 and located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Ran into a burning house to save a man in 2007
Jesus dude.. he sounds like a champ
ESPN Scouts Inc. Profile of Sammie Lee Hill
2008: Hill starts all 11games recording 59 total tackles, 19 tackles-for-loss, 7.5 sacks, seven passes defended and one forced fumble. Good height, excellent bulk and above-average top-end speed for size. Durability is not a concern to our knowledge. Helped pull a man out of a burning house in August of 2007. Lined up at defensive end in 2008 and willing to play on the inside and/or the outside.
are we switching to the
3-4 it seems like it with our picks
we took
an outside linebacker today though
NFL.com:
Compares To: SHAUN ROGERS, Cleveland — Hill has the potential to be much more consistent than Rogers, but will just need time to adjust to NFL life from the low level of competition he played in. Hill flashes a burst to finish and shows effectiveness stopping the running game as a three-tech defender. He has a very strong anchor vs. the run and uses his hands well to cross over the offensive lineman’s face to make the play. He generates excellent leverage to stack at the point of attack. He has the quick, strong and active hands to split double teams and his long arms allow him to consistently push the pocket.
Nice…

by Liontotheextreme on Apr 26, 2009 2:27 PM EDT reply actions
We'll see...
I still think Lenon would serve a hell of alot better in the middle than a rook
Especially with JP on the strong side
if we really want a MLB
one of the names will be around at 6.1. But it should be clear that that isn’t something the Lions are going for, otherwise they would have taken Laurinitis at 33.
Most surprising pick in the entire draft:
Has to be the safety Mitchell going to the raiders in round 2, right? Any other thoughts?
I don't know
Heyward-Bey was a big reach, but he was supposed to go in the mid to late first round. Mitchell was the 73rd rated safety! There were 72 other safeties that ESPN thought were better. If you’re lucky to be signed as a undrafted free agent, and instead you go in the middle of round 2, i think that’s more surprising.
If you want to see how
to build through the trenches, inside out or however you want to say it, look at the Ravens draft board.
Ravens
Had the Draft the Lions should’ve had. OT first, then D-Line and a MLB in the middle rds then a TE in the 5th. Looked like how the Lions should’ve drafted
That was my thought looking at it.
2nd best D in the league last year. Lost a few guys (esp Scott, big loss) but they’re still building it. Priorities I guess.
Forgot about that
Aaron Curry going to #4 was also a big surprise to me. I thought all the Tyson Jackson talk was garbage
I don't know if it's worth anything at this point
but the lions have to go OL with the next pick, right? How could they not? I guess, with our luck, they’ll take a QB to replace stanton.
damnit...
lets hope we can get McKillop with our 1st 6th and then Robinson with our 2nd 6th, to me that would be a good draft.
he's got talent. could be solid

There go the guys I was touting.......
McKillop, Devan drew, Brinkley,…..but look at who is left
Duke Robinson G, Mickens CB, Munnerlyn CB, Cadogan OT, Meredith OT/G, Tupou T; obviously there are things about some of these guys that they know that we don’t. However, maybe now they are worth a shot. I mean really, what fo we have to lose?
I have two draft guides
That say Duke is a 2nd round prospect. TAKE HIM.
I don’t care if he punches babies, if he doesn’t pan out, you cut him.

Cutler is more mobile than Staff
and doesn’t have as strong of an arm.
Strong, definitely, but not like Staff
Agreed
Then we need to sign Boozer with all the cash we got check that starting lineup out.
C: Rookie
PF: Boozer
SF: Tay
SG: Hamilton
PG: Stuckey
6th: Maxi
He just doesn't block shots
He plays decent defense though. It would be amazing if we somehow netted Hasheem Thabeet. That would be the perfect front court. I would trade Tay or Hamilton to get Thabeet. Imagine Thabeet on D and Boozer on O Damn. It’s alot easier to get an SF or SG than it is to get a Center
I would trade up
give up a couple of the 2nd round picks to get Thabeet. We shouldn’t need offensive if we get Boozer. I think that would put us back on the map. That plus a 3 point sharp shooter
If you think Boozer doesn't play D
Look at Amare. He blocks shots but when it comes to post defense, Duncan shits all over him
Duke Robinson is falling
like Ernest Shazor did a couple of years ago.
We won't
We could’ve drafted him earlier. I would’ve bet DeAndre Levy would be available now too, but we drafted him earlier cuz he was our guy. If Duke was our guy, they would’ve taken him alot earlier Ditto with Maualuga
This is who we need
http://www.draftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/ot/Gerald-Cadogan.php
Gerald Cadogan!!!
Weaknesses
From that scouting report:
Is he totally committed to the game?..Not real physical or aggressive and needs to show more of a killer instinct.
That screams bust to me. If you’re not commited to football, you’re not going to do well
This is what I would want in an OT
Terrific size and bulk with a large frame and long arms…Extremely intelligent with great awareness…Above average athleticism…Light on his feet…Quick and agile with good balance…Moves well laterally…Is able to protect the edge…Adequate strength…Has a strong initial punch…Good range and will get to the second level…Understands angles and positioning…Can recover when beat…Shows the ability to manhandle defenders…Hard worker…Still improving and has upside.
But it looks like he's only playing football for the money
I hate players like that. If they’re not committed, they’ll most likely bust, but hey pick him if we might get production out of him
Why couldn't we...
Help out our O-line earlier?
