Around SBN: Jeff Sullivan's MLB Trade Deadline Primer

This is the best article I have read on drafting and how the NFL really works. Scroll down to the part titled The Developmental Secret.

Excellent Article

And it makes some great points. One person says draft Jason Smith, another says Eugene Monroe. What matters is what happens after they’re drafted, not them being drafted itself.

WOW! Every Lions fan should read this article. More like this please.

Perhaps we would better understand why our draft picks bust so often. It also explains why the big Free Agents we have gotten over the years have also crashed and burned here, then excelled elsewhere.

So the next time you wonder why Detroit does so well with running backs, remember that they are probably the most instinctive of players and need the least amount of training. Also because we had Barry Sanders and Billy Sims.

I would have paid money to see an RB coach try to teach Barry something about running the football.
