Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

Let's hope that rumor about Foote wanting to return to his hometown are true. I would love to see him in a Lions jersey.

What are we runnig for a defense?

1 downlineman and 6 line backers?

We traded for a LB, drafted two LBs, signed two LBs and now have Foote available.

If we do sign Foote, which LB that we drafted gets cut?

by DrDetroit on Apr 28, 2009 1:28 PM EDT reply actions

None from this year...

Dizon, Lewis, and Graham can get cut easily.

Dizon

I am assuming he gets cut irrespective of Foote.

mayB trade him 4 Foote

and that P/K Swayze, they have lewis & that kid Cody spencer, they just picked up…but in retrospect, I think they want some stiff competition in the LB core.

please, please, please

This would make total sense, and Foote would serve the same purpose here that the old Steeler LB Earl Holmes did: a great two- or three-season starter and veteran leader . . . we just need to draft someone to groom behind him this time.

Peace

Please let us sign him

He would be such a great solidifying presence. Plus, I think he’d be happy playing for his hometown team. He’s won his Super Bowls, now he can help us back to relevancy.

Lions sign Foote...

…then immediately traded him to Arizona for Anquin Boldin! You can never have enough wide receivers!

Lions were interested in trading for Foote early in free agency. Now he’s released. Seems to good to be true, especially as a Lions fan.

this would obviously be an instant upgrade

Lions need to pull this off, since they didn’t address many defensive needs in the draft. This is a must.

GIVE THIS MAN A CONTRACT!!

Mayhew please sign him!! he wants to play here and he would be an instant upgrade!!

This better be a done deal.

No joke, this would actually make the Lions linebacker core one of the better groups in the NFL. A pro-bowler on the strong side, a true NFL middle linebacker, and I think Ernie Sims would finally get an opportunity to shine, rather than look like a potential bust of a first rounder like he did last year. Outside of kicking, they really don’t have much to hang their hat on. If they could still work a deal for another DT through free agency, this may go from a dissapointing draft to a wonderful offseason. Spend next years off season focusing on rebuilding the O-line….! Oh no….I’m friggin gettin excited to be a Lions fan again! This hasn’t even happened yet and I’m already bein sucked back in.

If they land Foote...

then we would look like a decent team as long as our Dline and Oline can even be mediocre and our cb’s do their jobs right.

by lions_sucker on Apr 28, 2009 3:23 PM EDT reply actions

and with the offense were building...

it doesn’t really matter, as the scores will be looking like college basketball games.
