Steps unfamilar to Lions Fans
Well, after doing the research, reading the opions of my fellow fans, we do actually have reasons to be excited.
With the 1st pick in the draft our Lions chose what we all dreaded, a ""franchise QB". With the bad taste in our mouths of QB's from the past,( I was blasted back to names like Harrington, Pete, Ware, with a sprinkling of vets on the side: Mitchell, Garcia, Krammer. Well this morning I tried to keep an open but reserved mind and this is what it boiled down to, to me. MAN thats a hard taste to get rid of!
We have a never before seen life in our teams history. We have a chance. Stafford looks like he could be something. He's saying all the right things and man is that a breathe of fresh air. With the way his contract is written the Lions have done something intellengent. If Schwartz doesnt like him after mid season, his contract with work out to 3 years. Culpepper will give him the veteran leadership that he will need and it looks like we are stepping in a good direction.
What will the future hold? No one knows , but from from a unLion like draft maybe we will have a new found mindset for a team that has needed one for a long time.

Stafford has to play 33% of the games or he can leave after 3 yrs with his full signing bonus

they have something like a Pudge contract (something new --his agent drew it up)
i believe the base pay is in HUGE chunks after yr 3 ,the bonus was paid out 1st 3yrs
helps Lions in the long run

Where did you see this?
I doubt any NFL contract would have a clause like that.

I saw it on NFL network about the contract being games played incentives
Lions didnt want to pay 41.7 million signing bonus over 2 yrs ( mostly because if Stafford sits the 1st yr — it would be 41.7 bonus for 1yr ) so they made it over 3 yrs and his agent added the games , played ..
im trying to find his contract online ..u can usually find a guys contract… must not be signed yet..
Dont ALOT of NFL players have “similiar” contracts ,i know they release guys before they have to pay bonuses, like Hall got realesed by Raiders game before he was due 7 million for playing 8 games
Incentives and an out clause after 3 years are two much different things
His contract is worth a minimum of $72 million. He can earn $6 million incentives. I don’t doubt games played is an incentive of some sort, but if he doesn’t reach the incentive it doesn’t mean he can leave.

Sounds like ralph has better sources than the rest of us
ralph, I am not sure what you mean by “finding a guy’s contract online”. You might be able to find a short blurb describing some of the parts of a player’s contract from NFL.com, etc. in the usual short article on those things but there is no way in hell you will find a player’s contract.
Unless you have a bigger tin foil hat than the rest of us.
No kidding
The only contracts online are college football coaches.

Optimism
Sure there is reason to be optimistic, you are right this was not a ver lion like draft, and the more tim e goes buy the more we want to beleave, but when millen came in he drafted unlion like also drafting Wr after WR after WR and big beefy linemen that couldn’t move, but thats in the past and we are in the Stafford ERA weather we wanted it or not, I hope the kid can stay on his feet next year or when ever he does get the ball.We do have reason to be optimistic like you have all stated we have the #1 rec spot nailed down for now, Possibly The best tightend in many decades to take away the double teaming of said rec. In my opinion a pretty good looking RB the foundation is layed all we are missing is a O-line that can block, the one thing that the Cowboys and Steelers and what ever other team you want to throw out there has allready. 1 to 2 years away if we don’t get hit by the injury bug again like when Barry was around. That was the best o-line we have had in my life time, then the curse of the lions took over and what? Thumbs up mike uttley and another 1 killed that off year or was it 2?? Sorry it’s been a long time ago to me.
Eric Andolsek
I believe Eric was killed in 1992. He was in his own front yard when he was struck and killed by a trucker. Very sad.
