POD Community Mock Draft: Pick No. 8

1 8 Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
General Manager: lionsfan22

With the eighth pick of the 2009 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Here is lionsfan22's reasoning for the pick:

Maclin is a dynamite player and he couldn't be stopped this season.  He will automatically step in and be the Jag's #1 WR which they have been searching for for many years.  I know they have used picks on WRs in the past but his mixture of speed and quickness will give any NFL cornerback trouble.  He can jump in and also be their return man right away and give Maurice Jones-Drew a break now that he is the full-time running back.  He can also give the Jags someone who can run the new Wildcat formation with MJD in the backfield.  Maclin will put the worries away from the Jags WR problems and this is why they will take him with the 8th pick in the draft.

I loved the Raji Pick

If Raji wasn’t taken at #2 we would never had such a halarius reasoning by HoorayforEverything’s pick for the Bengals at #6 Good Job CLF you win the Millen of the year trophy in this years draft.

I liked the Raji pick

I think Raji will be a beast. He may not get his name called alot during the game, but he will be a disruptive force and will make the other players around him better.

I voted yes...

…but Sanchez would have been a good choice as well.

Yea

Sanchez was my second choice, but Garrard is serviceable and he really has never had a WR to throw too so the Jags should give him a chance.

Jags need a wideout...

…not a QB. If the Lions community is overwhelmingly saying that they’d rather go another way than QB this year, than the Jags can definitely pass on a QB. They have other trouble sports, especially in their defense. But I think Garrard needs a solid WR to throw to so that Jones-Drew can become even more dangerous.

I agree

Jags need a WR desperately, Maclin could be their big play receiver.

I am just curious

Why is there 35 people against this pick but none giving me a post why?

I know you can't trade

But I voted no cuz I think if they keep the pick, they may surprise and grab Beanie Wells. Sorry for mentioning a OSU guy here, but he is a real darkhorse here if they keep the pick

The Jags are one of those teams that every year are one where they really aren’t one of the bottom 10 teams in the league, they just had a bad season. They released fred Taylor and I doubt MDJ is a primary back.

2 back league as you know now, and they don’t really have one. Maclin would be nice, but to me he is like Ted Ginn or even Troy Williamson and will be a real reach here.

Wells as you know is a beast and would be a perfect complement back to MDJ.

I voted NO.

But it wasn’t a strong no. I think this is a little early for Maclin and that Sanchez might be worth a shot here. Their second pick [#39] should allow them to pick up a very good receiver. Not as dynamic as Maclin, but a good #1 WR.
