POD Community Mock Draft: Pick No. 13

1 13 Everette Brown DE Florida State
General Manager: ReichardZ

With the thirteenth pick of the 2009 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Washington Redskins select Florida State defensive end Everette Brown.

Here is ReichardZ's reasoning for the pick:

When researching the Redskins, three big needs became apparent: wide receiver, offensive tackles and defensive linemen. After the selections of Crabtree and Maclin, there isn't a legitimate number one receiver left on the board. Staying on the offensive side, with Smith, Monroe and Oher gone, there are no tackles worth reaching for.

That leaves defensive line. After making a big splash by landing Albert Haynesworth via free agency, the Redskins still need to improve a defense that only had 24 sacks last season. Everette Brown is the answer. He may be a bit undersized at 6' 2"and 255 pounds, but with Haynesworth clogging up the middle, Brown should be able to attack offenses as an outside rusher. If he doesn't work at end, the Redskins also have a need at linebacker, and Brown could be plugged in there as well.

Dan Snyder has never been shy about going after top talent and getting Brown gives them a top pass rusher at either linebacker or defensive end.

With the..

absence of Taylor, this will give them a building block on the outside. He and Haynesworth should be a good combo. Good pick.

Probably the logical

pick considering who’s on the board. They need Pass rushers if they want to match the Giants and Eagles, they get a good one. I think he’ll be introduced to the Meadowlands grass a few times by the Giants tho, but its all good.

Good pick for the 'Skins

Washington sacked the opposing QB 24, yes twenty four times, last year. A horrible total. Compare that to Detroit’s thirty sacks. He will make a good combo with Haynesworth to apply serious pressure to the QB.

I should have mentioned this

I don’t think he will be there when the ’Skins pick with the way his stock is rising.

Your probably right

Many mocks have him landing in Green Bay.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
