Lions Announce Undrafted Rookie Free Agent Signings

The Lions announced that they have signed five undrafted rookie free agents:

WR Demir Boldin
C Dan Gerberry
DT John Gill
LB Andrew Downey
K Swayze Waters

Neither Otis Wiley nor Daniel Holtzclaw is on this list, so I'm not exactly sure what happened to them.  There was never any official confirmation about either player, but multiple outlets reported the Wiley signing, so I'm not exactly sure what's up.

UPDATE: The players signed aren't the only ones attending the camp.  There are other rookies attending on a tryout basis, so that is probably what happened to Wiley and Holtzclaw.

UPDATE II: You can now find a list of "rookie orientation tryout players" by clicking the link at the top of the story.  Daniel Holtzclaw is on the list, but Otis Wiley is not.

This is confusing...

Holtzclaw I kind of figured was just a rumor, but I thought Wiley was signed, according to what he told reporters. I’ll be kinda pissed if that fell through.

Holtzclaw has a Lions logo for his facebook profile pic.

Theyre probably invited to mini camp, and that’s it.

Holtzclaw

It will suck if Holtzclaw didn’t sign, Schwartz has been speaking highly of Levy so maybe it could be a strong pointer that Levy might be the guy…

I think so

And to be honest, the more I hear Schwartz rave about Levy, the more excited I get to see him play.

I just don't see it...

I saw (or didn’t notice) him play again MSU. I had never heard of him before and I would think that such a promising prospect would have some sort of reputation, besides being projected in the 6th round. The only badger I’d heard about was Jonathan Casillas.

Great, the one guy [Holtzclaw] I really wanted to see get a shot may not get one.

I know nothing is/was confirmed but I have a hard time understanding the logic of NOT having any competition for the MLB job.

I must confess though, I have not run an NFL team or even coached one for that matter, so I might be slightly naive of the way things actually work there.

Nice find

I guess these other guys weren’t actually signed, but will be at the camp.

Well, at least we have confirmation that Holtzclaw is there this weekend

There’s a bright spot. Still though, no mention of Wiley? Odd.

Wasn't there an article in the Freep?

I thought there was a big write up on MSU Otis Wiley, he’s been on other published lists, as well. Holtzclaw too, but I see him on this list. I read an article, with jim Shwartz, saying there were 8 UDFAs & a number of UDFAs with invitation (to tryout). hmm…

freep also had a “top story” on their website about Braylon possibly being gay too. Then they took it off a bit later. I don’t think there’s much of an editor over there…
