Reevaluating Mayhew

Stay connected for news and updates

A few months ago before the Roy Williams trade, the hiring of Schwartz, the draft, and free agency the Ford's replaced Millen with Mayhew and down came the gavel of the fans saying how dumb it was to replace Millen with another front office guy in a failing franchise. I was one in a minority who defended the Mayhew selection. I said don't judge too hastily and lets see what he does. I had the opinion that he was well trained by Millen in what not to do and his reputation and abilities were brought into question by the decisions of Millen and not his own. Kind of like he was quilty by association and I believed it was unfair how most were judging him. Now here we are a few months later and I wanted to see how everyone feels about him now that we have some things we can truely judge Mayhew on. I believe he's done as good as anyone could hope for with the hiring of experienced and successful coaches, the drafting of talented rookies(all of which I do not agree with), and how he has brought in experienced veterans on the defense. I like that he didn't spell out his off season plan and I beleive it made the Lions less predictable to the rest of the NFL .   Now I'd like to hear your opinions. Were you originally for, against, or indifferent to the hiring? Where do you stand now? What was your favorite and least favorite decision of Mayhew? How would you grade his performance up till now?
