1957 NFL Championship Game Film

Previously I brought you game footage of the 1952 and the 1953 NFL Championship games featuring the Lions defeating the Browns in close games for their second and third World Championships. Now, straight from my grandfather's archives, I present for your enjoyment the Detroit Lions demolishing the Browns one final time in the decade 59-14. Enjoy this footage and here's to a good 2009 for the Lions!!

Game begins after the jump!

i know...

I love to revisit the glory of the past. But how long will it be until we can revisit the glory of " Our Past". So far all I will be able to tell my grand children. Is the Barry era. And the " Glory years of Scott Mitchell?"

I don't think I'd take a chance on a rookie

named “Steve Junker” :D

at least you were alive for it…me, and most of the rest of us, all we’ve got is a single playoff victory as reward for all these years of fandom. The youngest amongst us don’t even have that, there are legal adults in this country who were born after the last Lions playoff victory.

Candy for the Mind

What a tasty Saturday morning treat. I thank my brother Tom for sending it. Though I wasn’t born until ‘63, I was born a Lion fan. The thing I noticed the most about this footage was the teamwork and sportsmanship. Every touchdown was followed by a toss of the football. Not into the ground or into the stands. Not against the retaining wall, or up in the air. But into the hands of the ref. Games that were played, not about “me” but for the success of the team as a whole. I’m just going to sit back and savor this for a while.
