I almost posted this article within a fanpost but I didn’t want to write something that should be handled more delicately than I could express. Tragically, it seems as though the Lions have been losing a lot of historical “Greats” recently. It gets amplified by not winning a championship in 50 years. The headlines always seem to read something along the lines of, “Member of Lions’ last championship team passes away.” Being 38, my knowledge of Creekmur is limited to whatever one can find online. Still, I can appreciate what he meant to the Lions and the NFL. One bittersweet thought that I can’t get out of my mind is that, although these players have won championships with the Lions, it’s a shame that they didn’t get to see another Lions’ championship within their lifetimes.
