Thursday Notes: Lions Release Alex Lewis
- The Lions released linebacker Alex Lewis today. Lewis was a fifth-round pick in 2004 and started in fours game last season. The trade that brought Julian Peterson to Detroit put Lewis' spot on the team in jeopardy, and now the Lions decided to simply let him go.
- The site Katomic Snitch has 20 screenshots of the Lions in Madden NFL 10. (HT: MLive Detroit)
- The NFL once again will not be able to suspend Pat and Kevin Williams until their case is final. This means that the Lions likely won't avoid the "Williams Wall" when the play they Vikings in Week 2 of the season.

Sucks that the Williams Wall will be on the field
I was hoping against hope that we might’ve got lucky on that one.
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
But then we’ll have Big Grady taking Favre’s head off(hopefully). Plus you know the Viking’s fans would use that as an excuse when the Lions beat em.
Actually not necessarily
The Williams Wall were appealing the NFL’s suspension under a statute of Minnesota law that says an employee has the right to, if they fail a drug test for something they didn’t know they took, explain it to their employer. Since the Williams Wall weren’t given the chance to explain, they are suing the NFL for violating Minnesota law.
Since Grady played for the Saints at the time, and so isn’t affected by this appeal one way or the other.

The NFL should take a strong stance.
Naturally the Minnesota court system was going to rule in favor of the Williams wall, I think the NFL should notify the owner of the Vikings he will have to move his team outyof Minnesota because the State Laws give his team a competitive edge and doesn’t allow the team to enforce NFL guidelines. If Minnesota is in jeopardy of losing their franchise rights they might get off their beauracratic legal high horse and follow the rules.

A post season ban effective immediately would work too.
