Vick is an Eagle!
For all us animal lovers, there is a new team for us to hate. PFT is reporting Michael Vick has signed a two year deal with the Eagles.

what is with this 75 word crap. I guess i should keep typing or have done a fanpost. It's the first time i've created my own fan post. I think I have got enough words. late.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Pride of Detroit's main writer, Sean, or the site in general. FanPosts are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable fans.

In other news on NFL players that have no sense..............
Donte Stalworth has been suspended for the entire season with no pay.
I guess everyone disserves to make a living but if it were my NFL team, I would not have even talked to Vick. Way to much negative PR to be had. Guess all their season ticket holders have paid thier bills.

i'm happy for vick
the man had his time in court, was judged by peers, convicted, and served his time. regardless of your views, he was given his penalty and served it. he deserves a second chance and i’m glad he got one. i also think philly will be a good fit for him. i think the organization is solid enough to take the PR hit and he’ll be around a mentor in McNabb. congrats to vick and hopefully he’s on the way to turning his life around.
i’m more outraged/confused about the Stallworth issue. again, judged by his peers and convicted. but 30 days? he killed a man. a human life is gone and a family is without a father. 30 days? nothing against animals, i love my dog and would never support dogfighting…but vick got like 2 years. and 30 days v. 2 years? i was hoping Goodell would be more strict with Stallworth and less on Vick with his additional suspensions.

The commish banned him for a year
I think that is sufficient punishment. And there is still no guarantees with Goodell after that. He’d better stay clean!

what would justify a lifetime ban?
baseball you got pete rose betting…
refs betting on basketball…that slimey dude that got jail time…
i think it should have been an indefinite suspension, without pay. with the suspension lasting more than a year.

I too think Stallworth should pay a bigger price
A much bigger price. 30 days is not fair to the mans family. I am not sure how he pulled that deal off, I am sure it had to do with money, and I don’t know if I want to know, but if it where any come joe, they would be behind bars for a long time. Goddell should ban him for life.

He probably paid them a large settlement out of court
But I too scratched my head at his sentence…..

FYI Leonard Little of the Rams also killed someone in a DUI
That was in 1998. Was convicted of manslaughter. Was suspended for eight games in 1999.
He was arrested and charged in 2004 for speeding and DUI, but was only convicted of speeding. No suspension.

So there is some precedence here.

Who cares?
Honestly, Vick was an amazing athlete, but he has never really lead a team to any great success. Maybe the Eagles can figure out a way to let him get 4 or 5 touches a game as a WR / RB or RET guy. It’s a non-story for me, as I bleed Blue and Silver baby!

lol
I was about to bust out some photobucket pics on him, but he seems cool. Don’t want to come across as a personnal attack.
I’ve read that comment about 12 times and I still can’t figure out what det32 is saying. Can somebody translate it for me?

1. He was glad he found a team

4. wanted him to go to rams (contradicts #2?)

I doubt Vick would be any good at Corner
He probably doesn’t know how to tackle.

Congratulations to Vick!!
I’m happy that he gets a chance to resume his occupation. Congrats to Vick and the Eagles. They’ve got a good QB, who’ll be a Pro Bowler again someday. 0-16 fans won’t be too busy hating anybody. Who are you kidding? We’re in a 50-year rebuilding abyss, and a PLAYOFF team just landed Vick for pennies!
I’m not saying he was our miracle cure, but he’s an experienced winner, who packs the stadiums, and he wins. Never came close to 0-16. Don’t get me wrong, I’m Detroit born (residing in Atlanta) and still a fan of ALL Michigan sports teams, but EVERYONE in Detroit is not an animal lover, I’m sorry.
The whole world sees what happens to Detroit dogs (just like they witnessed 0-16) courtesy of Animal Planet: DETROIT. Stop the dogfighting in our city before you hate! Don’t just whine on a blog, do something substantial. Our city’s on TV for euthanizing dogs regularly, an NFL record that can never be broken, in addition to our financial woes!
Anyone who mentions "negative press’ should be ashamed… All the press that’ll descend upon Philly to harass him, will stimulate Philly’s ECONOMY, bottom line. Hotels, concessions, security, etc. Philly’s TV ratings will soar for a whole season, and they’ll still reach the playoffs as they always do. Detroit could’ve really used that financial boost, and simply “thrown Vick to the dogs” after a year.
Philly’ll have the feel-good story by year’s end, and we’ll be happy with our team of “high morality” players who lose quietly. Who wins? The hated, or the laughing stock?

Yes congrats are in order...NOT
Does no one remember this is still Ron Mexico? Still the guy who got busted with “mari-water” at the airport? He was close to a melt down before he got busted for dog fighting…
Does he deserve a second chance? Yes. He did his time. And if there is anyway to make up for what he did, it’s by playing in the NFL and using his celebrity to do good in society.
I however, have my doubts about this guys character…

I agree
Has Vick done anything genuine to show that he’s not a rotten person? He got caught torturing puppies, lied, continued to lie, then had to face the music.
Is there really any reason to celebrate the fact that an convicted criminal dogfighter, also a liar and a troublemaker, found a million-dollar job after serving his prison sentence? I don’t automatically respect somebody more just because they got caught in a despicable crime they tried to cover up.
But ultimately, I guess I just don’t care. He’s done his time, let him live his life I guess. I’m just really glad he’s not with our team.

I don’t need another reason to hate the Iggles. My undying, neverending hatred for them and the Cowgirls was passed on to me by my Grampappy

In Philadelphia's defense...
better than 98% of their team doesn’t torture puppies. That’s still pretty good, isn’t it?

LOL yeah. This is a good, smart football move for the Eagles. I’m not knocking it, just saying I hate ’em with a passion and always will

I dont care about the dogfigting
I dont care abour Ron Mexico, or mari-water, or whatever. Michael Vick is not a good quarterback. He is the football equivalent of a shiny object. Lets all get over this
