CBS Detroit is cheap
Game isn’t even in HD for me. What a joke.

Blackouts suck
The NFL should just get rid of them, especially with today’s economy.
"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five." ~Groucho Marx
Yup
No point to have them anymore. Not like I’m going to spend money on a ticket because of a blackout. I will either find it online or just track it.

Can I hang out in here?
Promise not to give away anything.
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).

that sucks...
i got the atlanta coverage on NFL network…brian baldinger called the shots…sucked to get the falcons perspective…i miss the one half visitors/one half home team broadcast they did last year
I know what happened
But I won’t say anything just in case people are waiting for the result.

I forgot I was signed up to get the quarter by quarter text results every other preseason game I’ve watched was in HD but hey CBS figures its just the Lions
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions
Got that right
I finally get an HDTV and they don’t even have the game in high def. WTF
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
I can watch the Bears Bills game in HD

No kidding, I spend a boatload of money on a big 1080p
and THIS is the first Lions game I get to watch? Annoying as hell.
if i can make just one comment...
i wasn’t overly impressed by culpepper. yeah he moved better than i thought…but i think both stafford & stanton outperformed him.
There hasn't been a huge discussion yet
That still may come when Sean posts his game recap.

Culpepper wasn't bad
Stafford and Stanton just seemed to do more

thats it...
not that pepper didn’t do anything…he didn’t do anything to justify him starting week 1 over stafford
not that much really
pepp played up to 6mins left in the 2nd quarter…staff took over until midway through the 3rd…
ohh...and i have to say this
damn that colbert…staff’s #’s would have been solid had it not been for his 4 drops (i think it was)…but staff hit him with precision on the sideline i must say…wow!
Pretending I don't know what happened...
That really wasn’t a great pass by Daunte, impossible for anyone to catch, probably, sans maybe a perfect Calvin jump
Thats the best Culpeppers been able to avoid a rush in a few years
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 8:18 PM EDT reply actions
Smith down to the 11 on a screen.
Followed it up with:
No gain by Smith
Culpepper down to the 1 and a half yard line
Culpepper sacked for a loss
Field goal by Hanson

I just watched the Highlights on NFL.com
The CBS commentators have like no emotion. It’s depressing. Also, Brown is scary fast.
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
The low point of our game I thought

On a preseason game that people around Detroit couldn’t even watch live.

I watched on nfl network
but im in traverse city

WTF?
I live over 100 miles from Detroit. Is there a new blackout zone area? I’ve never had the games shut down here before.
I just ordered Comcast’s higher tier this morning to get this game and I have to get the shaft like this.
The game wasn't on NFL Network for you earlier?
Maybe it’s because Comcast is in the blackout zone.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Comcast is the cable carrier
in grand Rapids, MI… I think closer to Detroit (like Lansing, or Midland) they have Charter.
So that doesn’t seem to make sense.
Based on the stat line, I this Brown is playing his way into the squad over Cason… especially if Williams shows a little flash on returns.
That's weird
NFL Network must have blacked it out all over Michigan.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Although Bennie said he got it in Traverse City
Don’t get it.

Aaron Brown is a Beast
showing great hustle
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 9:11 PM EDT reply actions
I think he'll make the roster over Cason after what he did today
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Not that one game means he's in for sure
But based on what I saw, I think Brown is a better player and has more potential.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Great throw by Stafford
And Colbert actually caught it this time.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Got here just in time for the 2nd half...
I avoided finding any score of the game until my dad told me it was 10-3 at halftime… I screamed at him…
Ha
Make sure not to scroll too far down the site or look at the other open threads.

I'm going to assume we lost this game?
Would I be right in assuming?
(I’d prefer if you didn’t respond…)
Elam missed the XP?
Didn’t even notice when he kicked it. (Probably because of the awful camera angle)
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
It's amateur night at Ford Field...
Actually, I think it’s been Amateur night EVERY game at Ford Field.
Just gettin home from work..
Does taped delays not broadcast in HI DEF or what?
TD
Great pass. Stafford looked off one WR and went to the other side.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
he's a cheaper less talented Vick
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 10:00 PM EDT up reply actions
Yep...
Back when I sucked at Madden, I’d choose the Falcons (when Vick was suspended) and put in Shockley…
I'm waiting for another roster update before I start mine
No Jerome FeaJerome Felton isn’t on the roster.

Forward down the field,
A charging team that will not yield.
And when the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave.
Rah, Rah, Rah.
Go hard, win the game.
With honor you will keep your fame.
Down the field and gain,
A Lion victory!

I didn't want to have to do this
But it feels like I should dedicate a post to this awful quality.

It looks like someone
took a bunch of still pictures and then combined them
They didn't save any of the video...
So they had the interns throw pictures in front of the camera really fast…
Mine too
I laughed when I saw that. Some of the commercials sort of look HD, but they’re not full screen.

Might as well watch it on the regular CBS
Looks the exact same but full screen
Thats what Im doing
The Joe Porter commercial has better picture quality then the game
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions
I did for the second quarter
But the picture quality is a bit nicer on the HD channel.

Culpepper started good...
I think Staff did better, but he did play against 2nd stringers… So we’ll see.
Other than that pick 6 Staff made some nice throws except for the drops, Culpeppers was more mobile then he has been in years and just was a bit over excited o some of the throws think he’s trying to hard to impress..
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 10:59 PM EDT up reply actions
I liked what I saw, plus keep Colbert off the field when Staff is out there
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
If you're that returner, at least get the clock down to the 2-minute warning
Gave us a free timeout basically.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
He was one of our better defenders

by Hyperion Ecta on Aug 15, 2009 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions
That mistake on the KR turned out to be huge
Lions got to save a timeout and saved themselves over 40 seconds. If not for that, they’d be getting the ball left with about a minute left.

I'd like to see Brown boosted up to the low 70's... I think he's in the 50's...
Maybe 60’s… but I think 50’s…
It'd be nice
to see Staff come in here just to see what he could do with 2 minute offense
It's definitely not surprising that Stanton led the team in rushing
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
I tought people at work were lieing to me
about the outcome of this game
5-0 in the preseason 0-17 in the regular season
yet still drinking the kool aid
by Curse of Bobby Layne 50 Years Strong on Aug 15, 2009 11:12 PM EDT reply actions
Interesting (and sad) stat
Last 5 preseason games: 5-0
Last 24 regular season games: 1-23
