Things I'm looking for in game 2

1. Let's start with the most obvious one, Stafford starting with the rest of the starters.   If he has a strong performance I will start to get on the band wagon of letting him start the season.

2. How will the D-line look in game 2.   Cohen, Flullen, Hill, Alama, Avril,  and the rest,  will Schwartz keep a rotation going or will he be looking for his starters so he knows what he has to begin the season with.

3. Kevin Smith getting more carries, What will Morris look like, can Brown look good for 2 straight games? Even Ervin looked very good.   Smith is the unquestioned starter but after that you are going to have guy's fighting for spots and playing time.

4. Can the O-line look decent again, especially on the road against a browns team that didn't look very good the 1st game.

5. Linebackers and Defensive backs, what players will start to pull away from the rest of the pack.

6. Is Colbert still on the roster, if so why???

What are you guy's looking forward to seeing in game 2...

For game 2 ...

I am going to try to keep a closer eye on Henry and the Lions secondary. I thought they held up pretty well against Matt Ryan and with Anderson and Quinn battling for a job you know they will be throwing and throwing often. The first time out didnt look too sharp for them and it is my hope to see if our secondary can lock something down and force the Browns into mistakes or force them to run the ball at our LBs. To be honest I am just looking for anything that doesnt remind me of the bleeding semitruck sized gaps in our secondary last year.

I would also like to see Williams in the slot a bit with CJ outside. You know he is going to get a ton of attention and Derrick Williams looked like he could step up and take some of that heat off him. With Williams slanting across the field, finding holes in zone coverage for 7-8 yard catches fairly regularly, and occaisionally breaking one. That could put a world of pressure on any safety tandum in the league.

Seeing them come out and spread the field on the first drive gave me a little hope. I can see what they are doing and I like it. I want to see more of that in Game 2 as well.

good point

With Quinn and Anderson going for #1 our DB’s should get alot of work which will be fun to watch.

you

you say that but c-pep and stafford are in one to we ran alot.. well alot for us

by det32 on Aug 17, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions

that is true

But we know that Schwartz wants to run the ball. It is no suprise that he wanted to see a lot of the running game. All I was saying is that our secondary should see a good amount of passes in game 2. It will all be leading into seeing a guy like Payton for game 3. That will be a true test and I think we are up for it. Get Delmas in there and lets see what these guys can do.

I hope

That we get to see our suposid starters on offence. Thats megatron, northcut, williams, grew, and sometimes fitz. If Staff infection can throw the pill again on target with these guys on the field. We could see 200 yrds or better on 3 series. I don’t see megatron dropping that many balls that are going to hit him in stride in the hands. I know I’m a little pre-mature here but really move over manning and harrison.

I am looking for 1 thing

Staff takes the snap, drops back, CJ is streaking up the sideline, get’s a step on his man, Staff pulls back and let’s it fly……………………………………………………………………………..Hits CJ in stride, TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You Knot It!!!!!

State and Center area here. Where abouts are you Saginawguy? And what did you think about Sweigert’s play on satuday?I hope he does better than the last Sagnastian to play for the lions.

I am on Active Duty.

I am out in South Dakota. Viking and Pack country out here. Originally from the TWP too tho. Schweigert looked good, he has always been a physical player, capable of blowing up WRs and TEs, guy just could never get his coverage skills up to par with his athletic abilities. I think he still has untapped potential and might be able to maximize his abilities here. I mean you can never discount the motivation and pride that playing for your hometown team gives you. So who knows he could flourish here and have a huge year. Let’s hope right. I would like to see him get some first team reps and hopefully display some improved coverage skills.

Pettigrew

That guy is a monster on Madden (the only place I have seen him play). His Catch-in-traffic stat is so high that he is almost better at catching when he has people around him than when he is wide open.

I want to see what he looks like in real games.

I'm looking to get...

some of the injured players back on the field…. especially at receiver. Guys like Pettigrew and Delmas need to get some game time situations in before the regular season starts. We are counting on these rookies to make significant impacts this year and they won’t if they’re not on the field.

I wanna see improvement on all sides of the ball

Not huge improvements, but enough to see us building in all areas. Things I really wanna see:
1. All the QB’s showing form. Especially Stafford.
2. Kevin Smith getting more carries. I also wanna see Brown back up what he did against Atlanta, no flash in the pan stuff.
3. Stronger play from the receiver’s so hopefully CJ, Northcutt and Grew will play, giving us some legitimate talent up the field.
4. Some solid play by the O-line.
5. I wanna see some sacks from our D-line, preferably from Avril and the LB’s.
6. I’ll be watching the secondary, the Browns are pretty inept right now, so I would like to see our secondary not give up any big plays.

On the whole, I think we can win this game comfortably and I expect us to do so.

I wanna see....

Stafford to CJ, D. Williams and Aaron Brown on special teams and in regular rotations, I want to see delmas, we’ve heard a lot but I want to see if he is the beast they claim..

Most importantly, I wanna see Stafford, CJ, Grew, and K. Smith all at the same time, and see how we can move the ball, cause imo that’s our future…

I am looking forward to seeing if Delmas is as good as everyone has been saying he is.

I do not think CJ, Bryant Johnson, or Pettigrew will play tonight. Last I heard, they were being ruled out for the game? Am I wrong or missing something here?

Seeing Delmas play is what I want to see…..I want to see him blow up somebody on the Browns offense like he did to Aaron Brown in practice. I want to see reckless abandon and a killer instinct. I want to see helmets fly and receivers hear footsteps. If he is that kind of guy, maybe teams will think twice before throwing over the middle all day long like they have been able to do in the past. I also want to see if Schweigert can really play or if he just looks good against 2nd stringers and on special teams. I do not like Kalvin Pearson or Marquand Manuel, and I do not believe either one of them is good enough to start anywhere else. I’m tired of the “he’s good enough to start in Detroit” mentality……I want to see a “he could start anywhere in the league mentality”. Until that happens, we will be average in my opinion.

Grew, CJ are confirmed out

BJ is a gametime decision. I completely agree about Delmas. I wanna here his name called a few times for some hits and some plays on the ball. If practice is any indication, he should at least provide some highlights.
