I like it, especially adding Fenroy to the practice squad...

But no way S. Smith and G. Jackson are both on the bench to start week one…Baring injury

I agree.....

I am betting Smith and Cohen will start week 1, with Grady being suspended.

by KDawg on Aug 27, 2009 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions

i really liked your Safeties

Those two in the backfield could lay some big time lumber, It would be almost like having 2 extra lb’s out there when it comes to hitting.

Dan Gronkowski will beat out Casey Fitzsimmons imo

Just Remember matt... what would Daunte do??

by det32 on Aug 27, 2009 3:33 PM EDT reply actions

I also like Big Dan

He has shown some nice hands so far…..Fitzsimmons is injury prone, unfortunately.

by KDawg on Aug 27, 2009 5:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice list, but I think the Lions will be allowed to keep an extra player.

If Grady Jackson is on suspension he does not count on the roster. They would have to drop someone when he is done and they want him on the team.

Has that been announced yet?

I like it!

I cant see anything I would change right now.

by IowaLion on Aug 27, 2009 4:03 PM EDT reply actions

Nice....

…except fluellen has played horribly this preseason so that spot will be Jackson……manuel will start over Schwagert……No way Petigrew will start the season as the number 1 TE….Not enough reps in camp….Other then that not bad

by BennieBladesFan on Aug 27, 2009 4:06 PM EDT reply actions

You forgot.....

….kalvin Pearson too…..he will make the team

by BennieBladesFan on Aug 27, 2009 4:07 PM EDT up reply actions

My bet.....

Is that Pearson gets the nod opposite Delmas…..Manuel is a liability in pass coverage (even worse than Pearson or Schweigert)…..but that also depends on how Gunther sticks to his guns about guys who do not tackle, and whether or not Pearson stops trying to arm tackle.

by KDawg on Aug 27, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought about that too.....

……but it way be tough with a rookie….Also you other safety has to be able to cover in that situation…..But yeah I like the idea.

by BennieBladesFan on Aug 27, 2009 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions

That would be awesome.....

But Delmas has to prove his can even hold Ed’s jock strap first.

Flu has been decent at the end position

He has a sack to his name.

Something else I found interesting.....

**NOTE – I am not saying we should do this, or that it would be a good or bad idea…..just passing it along…..

Broncos would trade Marshall (Fanball)

The News
According to a report from the Denver Post , the Broncos would be willing to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall if a team offered them a first and a fourth-round pick. Marshall is coming off hip surgery, and it seems unlikely that a team would offer that for a troubled receiver who may not be 100 percent.

Our View
It looks like the Broncos know that there is very little chance that they will be able to move Marshall, so they are going to go forward with him in the fold. If Marshall shows he is completely healthy he could spark some interest, but it looks like he will be a Bronco for the 2009 season.

by KDawg on Aug 27, 2009 7:25 PM EDT reply actions

oops

Didn’t mean to post that yet……I wanted to say a 1st and a 4th seems awfully high for a guy coming off of hip surgery doesn’t it? However, (all character issues and wah wah crap aside) this guy is all world when he is healthy. What if we could get him for a 2nd and Bryant Johnson?

by KDawg on Aug 27, 2009 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

i dont know..

it is alittle risky for me. I know you are asking the question base solely on Marshall’s upside. So with that i mind I would say yes. A 2nd and B. Johnson. Although, I really would hate to lose that draft pick.

delmas

delmas is a SS not a FS.

by lions09 on Aug 27, 2009 7:52 PM EDT reply actions

Ummm...

there is no strong and free safety in Schwart’s defense. He plays a left and right safety.

by DrewsLions on Aug 27, 2009 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Not bad

I don’t think Flu will start however, I also think Keith Smith and Kalvin Pearson will make the team.

RandomThoughts

I think I’m ok with the depth chart, right now. We just have to keep in mind that there are gonna be some quality guys out there in the coming weeks and we can’t fall in love with a guy just by the way he looks in preseason. If the right vet is there and can make you a better football team you may have to let one of these preseason infatuations go.
Just one more random thought, for now. If the bottom part of our WR corps is looking as bad as it has, ie, Colbert, Standeford and journeyman Looker. Why aren’t we looking at a young, multitalented guy like Matt Jones? I know he has a troubled past and all but nobody can deny his talent. Bring him in, work him out and see where his head is at. We coulld have really talented veteran receiver to fill out our WR corps!!!
