Fate?
With Stanton having surgery and Culpepper slicing his toe is it fate that Stafford is to Start? Now everyone should know i am not a huge fan of starting Stafford right away but i would rather have a Rookie healthy QB rather then a toe less Veteran. Now if Culpepper comes back and is healthy im still pushing for him to start. I don't know if anybody else read a recent article saying that Peyton Manning said Rookie QBs should start im mean stuff he said i can understand but i still think that Culpepper would be a better chance to win if he is healthy, well at least the first few games.

It has got to be divine intervention
Matthew Stafford held a seance and contacted the ghost of Bobby Layne to trip Daunte. All it cost Stafford was a 4th of July vixen and a used pair of Maria Sharapovas’ panties
Honestly tho look at the facts
first pick in 09 draft #1 quarterback
0-16 team nfl worst record ever
not a championship since bobby lane
bobby lanes curse of 50 years
booby lane and matt stafford went to the same high school
new coach new management new team
3 qbs and only one left
Matt Stafford it could just be fate
idk it is a little weird

Yeah it was a topic of discussion last year
Supposedly ended last year.

strange......
…….but I was thinking the same exact thing last night when I read this update. Maybe it was meant to be…..
interesting for sure
If we are temping fate hear; sorry cubs fans; and all things point to Staff starting in N.O. in week 1, wouldn’ tit just be a mother heffer if we did win the division and go to the playoffs. Or are we not tempting fate that far. I mean we don’t have a front line, our D-line is suspect at best, all new secondary. Oh yeah we are going to the playoffs this year you guys wait and see. I got my own form of Voodoo and it’s called monkey dust, I’ll sprinkle a little on the lions this year to help them along. No honestly did anyone of us think that the O-line was going to play this good this year? I know it’s pre-season and all but they have been on the dominant side in every game. If we can get staff to not brak Mannings int rec. this year we have some talent out there at the skills position, so why not?
Has anyone ever asked......
….David Carr whether he should have sat his rookie year? How about Carson Palmer or Aaron Rodgers?
Thank you.
David Carr was never going to be a stud
And Carson Palmer and Aaron Rodgers were, all regardless of their situations.
Either you have it, or you don’t. Great QBs are rarely drafted to teams that don’t NEED them (Rodgers being an exception). If Stafford is going to be the guy, he’s gonna be the guy in Week One just as easily as Year Two.
I disagree
I don’t think that all QB’s destined to be great arrive at greatness the same way. The same way that there isn’t just one blueprint for building a successful franchise, I don’t think that you can have a cookie cutter approach to developing a quarterback. They are all different individuals with different needs and avenues of approach to tap the best talent from them. Had Steve Young stayed in Tampa and started, I doubt that he would have been the quarterback that he became having sat behind Joe Montana. I don’t buy into the argument that any QB who will be any good is going to be as good out of the gate if they “have it”.
Thank you.
Rich Gannon
Is the true journeyman that was descent his whole career and didn’t get “stardom” until he was way past his prime. Bet the Raiders still wish he was there.
I remember watching Gannon
In his early days when he was bouncing around the league. The only way he achieved becoming a true quarterback is when he lost the ability to scramble consistently. I think that forced him into being a better qb. I remember he used to get the ball, take one read down the field, and he was gone like a chicken with its head cut off.
Thank you.
Look at Warner
He was stocking shelves at a grocery store right up to being signed by the Rams. Played in the CFL, Excelled with the Rams did nothing with the Giants, and then lead Arizona to a Super Bowl berth. It’s all about the situation around the player. In my opinion.
Palmer was tutored for a year under, wait for it…. Jon Kitna!! C’mon. Palmer had excellent receivers and a good running game. The pieces were around him, it’s pretty much the same with any QB you look at.
You could go down the line, with all of them. I say start DC give him till the bye week to try to break our winless streak, if he doesn’t bring in the rook.

Winning now is not the primary concern....
Not to say winning isn’t important but EVERYONE knows Detroit is not likely to win over 5 games this year and that’s being generous. Priority #1 is to build for the future so you can win next year and the next. Staff is the future of the franchise and the sooner he starts playing full games the better. All this crap about the “psyche” of the QB is a lot of bunk. That’s something a QB has to bring to the table and they either have it or they don’t. You can’t coach it into them if they don’t have it and you can’t knock it out of them if they do. Staff needs to play now. Sitting him only delays his progress. He’s not going to learn more than what he knows now without playing.
