Wheres the best place to tailgate before the game ?

Hey all, ok, the third preseason game is done, ive drafted my fantasy team, & i got my tickets for the upcoming season. I am 100% prepared, i went to the game on Saturday but i didnt really see a place to tailgate. i dont know the area too well so i couldve missed it. Where do you guys tailgate ? Is it even permitted ? I know here in Chicago, youre allowed to set up hours before the game. I know you guys do it. Where should i go ?

Agreed.

But the Eastern Market is the closest thing to that environment downtown. Make no mistake, there were better tailgates at the Silverdome. Regardless…if you like Football tailgates (and it pains me to admit this as a Michigan Fan), the best Tailgates in the State are on Campus in East Lansing! They put almost every College/Pro pre-game tailgates to shame. I swear the stadium must be empty come game time because no one leaves Tailgates!

Eastern market

Eastern market by far is the best spot to tailgate plenty of real fans, been there since we left the dome… its even a cool spot on saturdays too

Brush Street??

I’m in a similar situation…….I’m driving up from Champaign for the Vikings game and am not all that familar w/ the best places to tailgate, but I found this link below about something on Brush Street, I think we might try to hit this. Not sure, this might be more “family-oriented”, but think we’re going to give it a shot and see what happens – has anyone ever hit this? Is it worth our time?

Brush Street...

…basically connects the Greek Town crowd with the Comerica Park/Ford Field Crowd. Just about any empty lot in that stretch gets turned in to paid parking, and therefore there are several tailgates set up. Eastern Market is the closest thing Ford Field has to the old Silverdome tailgates,.

Maybe we’ll try to hit the Eastern Market tailgate instead…..good to know, thanks for the advice. Going to try and take a stadium tour on Friday as well……..really looking forward to that, sounds very cool

The way everyone is talking, sounds like Eastern Market is the place to be – we’ll be there! Maybe we can hook up and talk some Illini football and Lions football – looks like we got both of our teams in common :)
