Surprises
Not many. The first of which, which is a huge one, is why the hell isn’t Brandon Pettigrew starting? You invest a 1st rd pick on the guy and he’s not 1st string? Questionable, is there an injury I don’t know about?
Second, Marquan Manuel over Ko Simpson and Kalvin Pearson, he had a great preseason, but you alwayss take preseason performance with a grain of salt, I guess he really showed the Lions brass he can play, gotta love that

I agree
I’m especially shocked at the Manuel decision…..Pettigrew missed a lot of time in the preseason. Maybe he isn’t ready. Rest assured, he will play regardless.

I'll say
I doubt he’ll be there on the first snap.

I just have a funny feeling Landon might be there instead of him
The depth chart doesn’t mean much anyway, I reckon. There’s gonna be so much rotation with the D-Line that starter’s won’t feel like em.

I sort of agree CL, but the flip side is that this is a sign of how desperate we are at DT.
Like Staff, I think Hill will learn a lot more on the field than watching. He may get embarrassed at times, but we may end up with a real solid cornerstone of our defensive line.

that is how I took it
I don’t like the 4 guy rotation we have. I would have liked one player I am 100% on.
With that in mind, I watched the Tenn line dominate Pittsburgh last night without any big name guys.

I hope our O Line plays as well in the real season as they did in the preseason
I also hope they put Heller/PGrew with Sackus on the left side of the line for max protection on Staff’s blind side.
Also – I am hoping for lots of 2 TE formations to SLOW the game down and keep Brees off the field (easier said than done – I fully realize).
The defense – well lets just hope they hold their own – particularly the secondary. They need to create at least 2 turnovers. Maybe Delmas can jar the ball loose with a bone crushing hit – one in which we haven’t seen since the days of Bennie Blades!!
Prediction: Lions create 2+ turnovers and K Smith runs for >100 yards we have a real shot at winning.

totally agree...
with the prediction, because that would mean that we had a decent time of posession and then our defense held their own against the Saint’s O.

Per Killer Kowalski....
Heller will start, but Pettigrew will get more total snaps. Why Heller starts if Pett gets more snaps… beyond me. There’s a whole lotta changin’ goin’ on in Allen Park, but they are still the Lions…. :o)

Maybe because we look to run the ball more?
Heller should know more about the intracacies of run blocking compared to ‘Grew. But from what I hear Pettigrew is a better blocker than receiver, even though he’s great at both.

DT
Grady and Hill are big hole pluggers, but Grady might be suspended soon for something he did last year. Whos gonna back up these two OUT OF SHAPE big fellas?? Im concerned, we are gonna be easier to run on than last year. Why did we trade Shaun Rogers again???

cause then
we would have 3 big fat ass out o shape big men. At least these two are going to give it there all, and not just part of the time.

Cohen
Landon Cohen had the best pre-season. He’s ready. He’ll play early and often.
