Peter King thinks we got this one

http://www.fannation.com/peter_king_challenge/peter_king?eref=sihpT1

I have to say I agree with this one.  I like that it is the first home game.  I like that the stadium will be at least 90% full.  I like that Brett Favre and the Vikings won convincingly enough last week as to not need this as a statement game.  I like AP running at our linebackers and Delmas.  I like the gunslinger to make a few mistakes.  I am pumped I wish I could be there.  Go Lions!

I have the same feeling

Favre will try to take advantage of our secondary and make some costly mistakes. Mistakes that Brees doesn’t make. Heck, Cleveland was able to run on them, and at halftime Brown 13- Vikings 10.
I say 24-20 good guys
I think Favre tries to overcompensate

Lets hope

They don’t call CJ for a fumble after he catches the ball and skids for 5 yards before it is ripped out.

lol

what about a interfernc call on a guy 10 yards away??

It burns

It still burns. Our 0-16 should have an asterisk because of that game. I know for most teams, you might lose a game because you got jobbed by the refs, but most teams don’t end up going 0-16. I mean, 1-15 isn’t much better, but at least we wouldn’t have had to listen to all that crap.

I mean, they got the ball back from a non-fumble and then got in scoring range with a non-interference call. The refs pretty much gift wrapped it.

by ATL Lion on Sep 17, 2009 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

there were a bunch of those last year

i remember at the bucs game…db’s were hanging all over cj…but there is moss syndrome…he’s still expected to make the play even in the refs eyes.

by londonlion on Sep 17, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Detroit won that game!

That should have been first and goal from the goal line. WOW the refs screwed us so bad last year. Should have been 3-13 if the refs would have done their jobs and not blown the games we should have won. Not much better than 0-16 but still that’s just ridiculous.

by toled0lions on Sep 17, 2009 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

This may not sound good but after we got screwed in that game I felt we were doomed.

The non interference call on a bomb to Calvin a couple of series before the phantom interference call against Detroit was the one that still has me pissed.

YOU NAILED IT

That Vikings game last year still KILLS me – that was the one game that got ripped from us; absolutely TERRIBLE officiating in that game. We should have driven down on that last drive and Hanson would have won it. That game still makes me SICK. I agree, 1-15 isn’t much better, but we simply would have been forgotten about like the 1-15 Dolphins team the year before and all of this relentless 0-16 talk wouldn’t be a raincloud over our heads

I’ll be there this weekend screaming my lungs out doing my part – to see a win against the Vikings to break this losing streak would be amazing

we actually have a good record

of late vs the vikings…we have had as good of a gameplan & outcome vs ap as any other team in the league…and we actually have forced him to put the ball on the ground too. favre doesn’t have the cannon for down field shots like he used to. i think with a breakout of the guns playbook, we will see lots of pressure, lots of dumps & 15yrd throws from Brett and as long as the tackling is there and the safeties are in position…we may pull this out on a hanson fg. i see this one as a much more winable game than vs new orleans. at least history shows us having competitive games vs minny…and we don’t have dan-o to step out of the back of the endzone this year!

we've been putting up a good fight against the VI-queens

and I think that the trend will continue…I’m even starting the Lions D on my fantasy team!
$tafford just needs to cut down on the rookie stuff and we’ll cruise over them this time.

Referring to the Vikings as Viqueens...

just makes you look like a ignorant, disrespectful, douche.

Please have the courtesy and respect to refer to your division rivals by their proper name.

I dont mind comments from

other fans. But I know full- well the The Norseman refer to the Lions as " Kitties". We as Lions fans view this site as " Our Territory". And we protect it as such. Respectful and thoughtful comments are always welcome here.

With that said, EasternVike. Your comments have been respectful. It was your timing that was bad. You posted with two other of your Viking mates. Their comments were the usual crap. Feel free to post a comment anytime you want.

Best of luck Sunday( just not to much though)

I know cause the...

same thing happens at DN when Packers or Bears fans post there and its not a constructive comment.

I let my emotions get the better of me and I’d like to blame it on the fact that I just got home from happy hour.

So let’s hope we can have a game this Sunday decided by Purple Jesus and not by the officials. :-)

Peter King

Is an asshat that hates Favre for not giving him the inside scoop on his return after their tepid love affair for all those years. Seriously guys, I’m all for optimism..but against my team that is far superior at every position? Good luck on Sunday. And if you DO pull off the upset I’ll come back and take my medicine like a man. I just don’t think you have a snow ball’s chance in hell at this one. That being sad, feel free to beat the Pack and Bears all you want. :)

by Jepp The Viking on Sep 17, 2009 7:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well guess what..

everyone here hates Favre too. And I am guessing you hated him last year too. You have a runningback. And a couple of DT’s. I would not say you are " far superior at every position."

by JCruize on Sep 17, 2009 8:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

There's no doubting the talent that is present at Minnesota

But you are not far superior at every position. Calvin alone makes our receiving corp better than yours. Our LBs are also stronger.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).

by Hyperion Ecta on Sep 17, 2009 9:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I give you kudos for calling someone an "asshat"...

because that is pretty funny. But… to say your team is superior in every way is not on the mark. What was your record last year? You guys were supposedly Super Bowl contenders… but either you choked or your talent wasn’t what everyone thought it was. I suspect the latter.

You guys have a better team than we do, but that doesn’t always result in a win. We are at home, where you guys have played poorly as of late, and we are reeling from a bad game. We will be ready this week and I understand where the “asshat” is coming from in regards to his prediction. I won’t be the one surprised when both teams are 1-1 after this weekend. Cheers!

I now feel good about this weekend

dsludo predicted that the cyclones would beat the Hawkeyes easily last weekend. I believe it went 35-3 in favor of my Hawks, which makes it 3 years since the clones scored a td on us.

Might want to stop trolling dsludo.

Its a funny story actually.

The only question is, will the Lions win a game at some point this year.

by dsludo on Sep 20, 2009 6:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn't take much from this...

Peter King is one of the many reports that throw crap at the wall with hopes that one day the wall will look painted.

For the most part he’s a fool….

But Im picking the Lions not really cuz I’ll think they’ll win (Farve will get picked…but they got that AD guy there too…)…

But cuz I’d love for Farve to now be mocked for being the team that finally let the Lions off the snide.

What the f$%k is the internet?

Holy troll fest

What is wrong with you Viking fans? You are so bored over on your own site that you have to come in here and wave your dick polishers? At least you could have brushed your teeth first….smells like rotten bologna. We’re not impressed, and no we did not request your services…..we reserve that privilege for the Packers.

I am pretty sure that the Saints have a much better offense than you do in Minnesota, even with Peterson (who is really really good). Favre can’t save you though, and AP can’t do it all by himself. Better hope Shiancoe goes off on Sunday, because if all we have to do is stop Peterson we will definitely win. I don’t need Weiner King to give us his endorsement to know that.

Not sure why you find it strange...

because this is always what happens the week before a matchup.

That being said, best of luck to you guys this Sunday.

I sure as hell hope that the officiating is better this year than last. You guys were screwed out of a win last year and I didn’t like seeing my team win on a bogus call.

by EasternVike on Sep 17, 2009 10:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

To be honest

I’ve never really seen opposing fans come on here to much before a game, and I’ve been here a while. BTW, like JCruize said above, I’ve got nothing against Vikings fans, or any others for that fact, posting here, you seem pretty allright so keep the comments coming.

Also, I return the wishes of luck, although I’d rather see Peterson confined a bit this Sunday, if you don’t mind.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).

by Hyperion Ecta on Sep 18, 2009 2:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I expect the Lions to...

throw the kitchen sink at Peterson and Farve.

I think Farve will need to step it up this week from what he did in Cleveland last week. As long as he doesn’t turn into Cutler and start throwing a barrage of picks, I think the Lions defense will have their hands full.

It’ll be interesting to see how Stafford handles his first home game. He will have his work cut out for him with the Vikings defense. Cleveland was able to stop Jared Allen, I’m not sure if your O-Line will be able to do the same. I think that Stafford is more likely to make mistakes under pressure than Farve, so containing Allen and the rest of the pass rush is vital for the Lions to be successful offensively.

by EasternVike on Sep 18, 2009 9:17 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed

Allen I think we be just as crucial to a Vikings victory as Peterson will be. If Allen makes Backus look like a pile of crap at the left end of our O-Line, Peterson won’t have to do much since Stafford will have trouble getting in momentum. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen.

Viking Raiding Party

That was funny. :)

Long time Vikes fan here. I’m worried about this game, b/c I’ve been a Vikings fan for too long and have had my hopes crushed too many times when they should have won.

AD is a man among boys, but he does put the ball on the ground sometimes, and we all know Favre holds the NFL record for INTs. Hopefully our D can compensate and keep Stafford rattled.

If we have to lose to anyone in the division, though, I’d rather it be you guys than the other jack-offs. Your team has been down for so long, you’ve earned your whiskers by still being fans.

Here’s to a good, injury-free game!

by myPride on Sep 18, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dunno..

I look at the game and just think to myself that there is no way you guys can beat them, but that’s what I thought last year as well. There just seems to be something about you guys that they struggle with. It kind of reminds me of the Pack against the Bears.

I live in MN, and let me tell you all the sports radio shows, and Vikes fans I know are livid that King picked them to lose. Which is understanable because Berman did pick them to lose to the Browns last year as well. People really seem to be blowing this whole Favre thing out of proportion.

That being said, I hope you guys win as 1 game could go a long way in the division race.

BTW- Anyone here a big Tigers fan? I follow the Twins pretty much just cause I live in MN, and am going to the game at the Dome tomorrow. What’s been going on with the Tigers lately? The last time I had looked they were like 9 or 10 games up, and when I looked yesterday they were only up 4!
