Lions Reach Sellout, Avoid Blackout
The Lions have sold out Sunday's home opener against the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions had until 1pm today to meet the deadline after they were granted a 24 hour extension by the league yesterday. At this point, it's unclear if a sponsor actually stepped in and bailed the team out or if it was simply through fan sales. Regardless, there should be many happy Lion's fans this weekend. Enjoy the game!

Congratulations & Enjoy!!
just glad i have sunday ticket…although my wife disagree’s about half way through the season…lol
Sunday Ticket doesn't work for blackouts...
If you are in the zone, Sunday Ticket will be blacked out as well. Not to rain on your parade or anything….
i'm out of market...
but that sucks…i thought regardless the extra $$ fans put out for it would cover this…
and you'd think
that keeping these fans happy would be important. it isn’t cheap…and we do it to make sure we catch any game we want & likely watch at least three or four over the weekend. i guess the nfl view of a valued $ is different from the customers…as it always is in business, especially big business unfortunately.
no ...
even in the commercial they claim you can "see every “out of market” game" … it is BS for anyone living near the city they cheer for. But for me and the 50 other dudes like me that cheer for the Lions outside Michigan … it all we need. I still dont buy it because its too expensive. I would stream it or walk down to a bar that has it.
i only get it
cause otherwise all i’d get are the major east & west coast feeds. there’s only so much pats tv or seahawks tv a guy can take. and no bar here shows the game…the ones that do show games have three or four tv’s going…but i get laughed at when i request the lions game…so i order my sunday ticket & drink at home
Same here.
It is getting harder and harder to walk into a bar and ask for the Detroit game to be put on. If I did get it turned on, it would be on some crappy set in the corner with bad color.
I get Sunday Ticket and it is about as much as a season ticket to a cheap seat in the stadium. And I pay for that in the savings of drinking at home versus at the bar over the entire season.
i usually get laughed at too ...
but after a few times the nerves harden and you just keep saying, “dont worry, they will get thiers. Now put the game on the TV”
Are you saying London, Ontario is in the blackout zone?
Holy crap. I can see taking the game off the local TV station [FOX in this case], but taking it off Sunday Ticket too? Isn’t that the point of buying Sunday Ticket, that it is sort of like buying a ticket to your teams games?!?
no its not part of the blackout zone
when i had rogers cable i got the local fox station that brought me the games every week. when i switched to bell satellite i only got he major east & west coast feeds so i lost lions coverage…thanks to my wife, and i am sure she regrets, now i get sunday ticket. but i didn’t realize, even sunday ticket doesn’t bypass the blackoutzone. either way, i’m not in that zone so i get the game regardless & thankfully.
sunday ticket should be the equivalent of getting your teams games…no matter what. an extra $150+ if nothing else should give me my choice to also just follow my team all year regardless of blackout zones.
Yeah, that's worse than the blackout rule
When somebody is already paying extra to see a game at home through Sunday ticket, they are punished for not also paying to see the same game live.
Bizarre.
Tell us, Mr. Goodell, how does someone watch a home premium TV station and see the game live at the same time?
If you’re requiring somebody to pay for both, how do they watch both?
…
Why would you get Sunday Ticket to watch the Lions when you live in broadcast range?
I mean, I love the redzone channel—its like football crack—but why would you pay $400 for something you can get for free?
A couple falcons games were blacked out last season and I was unable to see them on Sunday Ticket. I did see them in redzone, but that was only for scores.
Sunday afternoon
Yea! I get to watch 15 minutes of it and see Peterson run up 170 yards in the first quarter to make it 28-3!! Final score 42-17. Peterson, 250+ yards rushing with 4 TD’s. Yea!!
too bad he's never done that to the lions...
how many fumbles were there last year alone when he came to town?
nice attitude

Here's a thought...
Don’t watch the game. You are obviously not a Lion’s fan anyway, so take a hike.
I cant wait for the Lions to win on Sunday..
Just to rub it in the face of those purple bitches. Im not not to talk trash but these guys are just picking a fight, and yeah AP may get 4 TD’s but hes gonna need to score them because Favre will throw 4 INT’s. The Vikings are overated and well prove that in 2 days.
Proud Detroit Lions season ticket holder since.......2009 !!
Um, no
Bwahahahaha. 0-16. I had season tickets for 10 years going back to the Silverdome and I am happy to say that I am now Lions Free. Now I watch to see the train wreck every week. Only takes one quarter. Long enough to see Hanson’s token 45 yard field goal to give a little squirt of hope and then smack, reality sets in.
Well, hopefully now that you are Lions-free...
you can go live a great life somewhere else. We here, are all happily addicted and don’t need a recovered Lion’s junkie coming in here and telling us to stay off the stuff. Lion’s Anonymous, we ain’t.
This is a strange place to be for someone who is Lions-free

Left over tickets
I was trying to see who bought the extra tickets.
If you’re truely Lions-free, then why do you give a damn? You’re a fraud and a closet Lions fan….not that there’s anything wrong with that!
He's just walking around behind the bandwagon....
waiting for his chance to jump back on when the Lions start winning again. Then he will say he was always a Lion’s fan and profess his undying love for the team. B=D 0o:
4 TDs is really all you need against the Lions, sadly.
(Not trying to troll, just being honest).

Four TDs is probably enough to win at least three quarters of any games.
Last week only five NFL teams scored more than twenty-eight points.
When you have something intelligent to add, call us back.
So, uh, how exactly did you just prove me wrong?
Just checking.

Awesome
Great to know Lions fans are still somehow supporting this team financially. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% devoted to this team every Sunday of the year, but it’s really hard to pull out that wallet and show your support in these times. Congrats, Detroit.

it just shows
what could happen if we become a playoff team think about this city and what it would do.

Sweet!
We narrowly avoid yet another blackout. Don’t know how. Don’t care how. Just as long as it got done. Let’s hope the D-line steps it up this week and makes it worth it.
It's just mind-boggling
I read recently the NFL had 9 blackouts last year…….5 of them were Lions home games. That’s 5 blackouts in 8 home games. And yet, the Commish says something along the lines of: ‘The system has worked for years; we’re satisified with it; we don’t see anything wrong with it; we’re not going to change it, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.’
Barf.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
I still think the NFL.com thing is nice
At the very least, its a step in the right direction. You aren’t limited to just highlights anymore.
