General Thoughts
- Stafford sounded strong. His connection with CJ is incredibly exciting and I thought he played very well, despite the pick.
- OL-line scares me. 2 big sacks. Since I can’t watch, I can’t say if the pressure is there constantly. Running game seems solid though.
-Cason made a play!!!!!!
- Run defence seems solid again, let’s hope that carries on to the reg season.
- 2 Defensive Turnover’s, a very good thing.
-Penalties still a problem.
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
Penalties and turnovers have been the main problems all preseason
The offensive line has looked decent….Backus gave up a sack, but that was the first by him this preseason. The other sack I think was on a blitz that we failed to pick up. I am pleasantly surprised with the offensive line, even though I still think we need a LT and a LG…..Loper will serve as a stop gap, but he will have to be replaced sooner than later in my opinion.
Coach said at halftime
He agrees our line looks great at run blocking but we’re not pass protecting like we need to.

other good reads from today
good piece on ernie

and gotta fix this one:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/tag/_/name/blackout-threat
WAtched first half on TV away from cpmputer
2 things about Stafford have now cinched it for me:
1) The way he fought for that fumble
2) The way he made that tackle after the int.
I knew he was a talented gunslinging monster and now I know he is a football player too.

Brown's first run was for 15 yards on the last drive
His next one was for 17. Still don’t know how long the pass to Jennings was.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
The NFL.com Gamecenter
thinks there was a -27 yard play and Brown’s first big run was a pass. ?

Great catch a few minutes ago by Jennings
and also great runs by brown. This guy should bethe 2 or 3 back for us this year. And doing good doing god.
Punt is downed at the 11
Camera man was completely fooled by the fake fair catch.

guess whos winning in time of posestion… (DET)… guess whos winning in total yards… (DET)…. guess whos winning in first downs…. (DET)… now tell me who is winning this game….
Plays on this drive:
4 yard run
11 yard run
Run for no gain
Pass for 27 yards (receiver got behind the secondary after a pump fake)

Lions should have had Hall down for a big loss
But he broke a few tackles to gain a yard.

Lob downfield is caught
Ramzee Robinson didn’t do a very good job on the coverage.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Ramzee Robinson has been great, for being picked where he was......
But he is a special teams player at best….I wouldn’t be overly upset if we cut him either.
Cletis Gordon makes the play
Great job to knock the ball away and prevent a TD.

these are the same guys last night who were saying theres no way that Matt Ryan is hotter than David Carr or tom brady.. so nothing would surprise me at this point

They said maybe late or if it is an emergency situation.

Standeford with another drop
This time on third down. Would have been a first down. Not a great pass, but still could’ve caught it.

Holy cow guys
since I wasn’t on-line when it happened, Feltonisgoing to be 1 heck of a fullback. Schlesh who?
Once upon a time there was a young running back by the name of James Mungro
Who looked awesome in the preseason. Nobody thought he would be cut…..yet he was. He ended up in Indy and had at least one good year there. Not sure what happened to him.
We're all awesome

Traffic and activity are two different things
I don’t think other teams get this active for the preseason, but POD is probably 10-15 for traffic.

Big hit by Schweigert after the ball went by
Lucky to not get a penalty. It was not necessary at all.
Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
He started to jump
He was originally going to make a play on the ball, but since it was too high he pulled up…..I don’t think it was intentional at all. He might have threw a defensive shoulder, bracing for the colision, and he made it look like he did something special afterward, but in reality I think it was incidental contact.
no TD's against us yet
That’s a good thing

But we have 6 half backs on the roster including the horrible Cason!!
Least he's making some places
That’s where you have to start sometimes
