Jim Schwartz and the Great QB Debate

Well guys, here we go again.  From what I just read, head coach Jim Schwartz expects Daunte Culpepper to be back on the field on Monday.  It doesn't sound like Culpepper's injury is as major as some people wish it was.  To me, it either says that Daunte Culpepper has been chosen to be the starter in week 1, or they HAD chosen Daunte Culpepper to be the starter in week 1 and now they are hoping to evaluate his status in practice during the week.  Anyway, I guess we will have to wait and see, but here is the link to the article.

I don't know if I take the same meaning as you do from the article

But it’s good to see that Culpepper should be back by Monday.

Kdawg....

…..you know that i think its going to be Stafford and I really think it will be…..I think they are evaluating C Pep……Know way he will be ready by week 1……..Its going to be Staff

Lol

I know what myPride means, Staff and Pepper are just about equal, Stafford may have a slight edge. But Culpepper has experience and savvy, he’ll see the open man where Stafford won’t, he’ll look off the safety, he’ll go through progressions rather than focusing on one receiver more often and better than Stafford will simply because he’s been in the game longer. He knows what safeties do what when and at what time and knows which corners to watch out for and knows who can cover who and who can’t, all this will come to Stafford eventually, but Culpepper ahs been in the game longer and this is all second nature to him.

It's gonna be C-Pep week 1

Daunte is gonna be starting in Nawlins, lead the team to a 2-4 record at best and then they’ll put in the kid. It won’t be pretty folks, but for the future of this team, it’s whats best. 2 more drafts/offseason moves and this team will be making some BIG noise in the league

Yep, Daunte in week 1

If Stafford had played as well in weeks 2,3,and 4 as he did in week 1, I would say he will start. But I think he needs a little more time and practice to polish up. Make no mistake, he has big potential and could be great. But the better QB should start and that would be Daunte. He wasn’t flashy or great in pre season either but I think his experience gives him the edge for now. By the time week 1 roles around, his wound should be healed enough for him to play.

Consistency at O-line

I think we need to see more of that before we put our product out on the field. I say roll the dice by week 4.What do you guys think?

It may be now..it may be later...later aint gonna be no use! Am I right Al? We got alot of angry guys in their black panthers, muslims, young lords, besides you average anti-socials. We gotta go in, am I right, clean their clocks!

I personally dont want to see stafford start as long as Backus is at LT… Culpepper definitely is not as mobile as he was in minnesota, however he has definitely shown more pocket presence and the ability to take a few steps forward, sideway, etc to buy himself a little bit more time… Backus will be the reason our starting QB get hurt this year, do you really want that QB to be Stafford???? If I had ANY confidence that our starter would make it through the year, I also would be on the Stafford bandwagon, but we went through 5 different starters last year basically with the same line…. You can bet the house that we will lose one this year too… I just hope its not the kid

Well, it is the kid now.....

So we just have to hope he doesn’t get killed.
