9 games last season

14 solo tackles, 5 asisted 1.5 sacks. Dunno could be worth a shot, he was only a rookie last season.

idk

But, I’m gonna go ahead & predict they claim Paul Spicer, seems like an odvious choice; Michigan product, huge DE, decent amount of sacks. I think it’d be a good pick up!

But the Chiefs cut 9 year veteran Damion McIntosh (OT). McIntosh is going into his 10th season, and he started all 16 games last year. Wonder if he might be worth a look for depth. Would he be better than Salaam?

Other possibilities....

Now these may be real long shots, but it is possible that the Jags will cut Tra Thomas and Tony Pashos in favor of Eugene Monroe and Ebon Britton.

Thomas signed a three-year deal earlier this year with the Jaguars worth slightly more than $13 million. However, according to a league source, Thomas carries a cap number of just over $4.3 million. Just under half of that total is based on playing time incentives. And he also carries a $1.45 million base salary guarantee which is fully guaranteed for everything (skill/injury/cap), so the team has a tough decision to make. Do they pay Thomas $2.3 million (his base salary) to be a backup while guaranteeing part of that salary?

According to a league source, Pashos is signed through 2011 and carries a salary cap figure for this season of nearly $6 million. Should the team trade or cut Pashos, they would actually save roughly $1.3 million of cap space, but would take on roughly $3 million of additional dead money on their cap from acceleration of his bonus money left over from the final two years on his deal.

One other guy that could potentially be cut, that we might take a look at, is Ashton Youbouty, CB, Buffalo.

Just an FYI guys...

the Freep is reporting that Lion’s publisist Bill Keenist has stated that the official list of cuts will not be published by the team until after the 6pm league deadline tonight. So I guess we can keep the speculation going for a few more hours. I’ll have a new thread with the full list after it’s published.

I know that Aaron brown will make it on the roster, but its been awhile in Detroit even if its preseason for a LIONS runningback to run past really 10 yards in the past. What are the odds that Tristan Davis makes it to the practice squad

by londonlion on Sep 5, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions

DeMario Pressley
His athleticism could sneak him into the third round, but he would have really needed to prove that his injuries are behind him and that he can get a lot stronger at the point of attack to go much higher than that. A team who needs some depth at defensive tackle and not much else could be willing to take a chance on him, but it is a risk. And since Pressley had nearly as much hype as fellow Wolfpack defensive lineman Mario Williams heading into their respective senior seasons, it is probably a risk worth taking for many teams.

A boom or bust guy coming out of college…..he had knee, wrist, elbow and foot injuries in college. He had a crappy Senior year because of injuries. He was drafted in round 5 by the Saints, and broke his foot in July during training camp. I don’t know man….his durability is a major concern. If he could stay healthy, he could be good if he can get stronger. Definitely not starting material at this point by any means.

More bad moves by the Lions

Will this team ever figure it out. They are cutting talent on both sides of the ball and keeping players that can’t produce. Number 45 made more plays than anyone on the field and now he is gone. Looker is a possesion reciever who won’t drop the ball and he is gone. The Lions recievers are the worse in the league except for Calvin Johnson. But with him teams and focus on and probably get away with covering him with the whole defense and still prevent a score.
