The Lions have claimed wide receiver/returner Yamon Figurs, who was waived by the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.  Figurs, like Marcus McCauley, was a third-round pick in the 2007 draft.  He only has two career catches in two seasons with the Ravens, but he also has one kick return for a touchdown and one punt return for a touchdown, both of which came in 2007.  It's obvious that the Lions didn't claim him for receiving reasons based on those stats.  I'm assuming they still aren't happy with their current kick/punt return situation, and chances are Figurs will immediately take over as the starting returner.  I expect Adam Jennings will be released to make room on the roster for Figurs.

On top of that news, the Lions have also signed four players -- TE Dan GronkowskiLB Zack Follett, C Dan Gerberry, and OT Lydon Murtha -- to the practice squad.  That leaves four open spots on the practice squad, and if who got those spots doesn't leak out, we will get the official list from the Lions sometime tomorrow.

Yamon Figures is FAST.......

AaronBrown/Tristan Davis fast. Can’t wait to see what he can do in the return game and maybe even as a slot receiver.

Figurs should provide some explosiveness at returner.

He’s also proven he can take it to the house. Good signing.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
