Evaluate The Secondary

So many mocks flying around and we haven't really decided whom we feel the Lions should keep, and whom we feel should hit the road. So I thought I would post some stats for reference on a specific area of the Lions team and see how we feel about who should stay and who should go.

I started with the secondary just because we had so many problems in that area. Not to mention, I am no expert in this area and would like to hear everyones thoughts on this area. I know the Lions struggled big time in the secondary this season so lets take a look at how each player did statistic wise.

Safeties: Games Tackles Sacks Int. Pass Def. TDs

Louis Delmas: 15 94 1 2 8 1

Marvin White 10 51 0 0 6 0

Marguand Manuel 9 36 0 0 2 0

Ko Simpson 7 30 0 1 4 0

Kalvin Pearson 12 20 0 0 0 0

Cornerbacks:

Will James 16 73 0 2 14 1

Anthony Henry 14 46 0 2 7 0

Philip Buchanon 13 43 1 0 4 0

Kevin Hobbs 14 36 0 0 1 0

DeAngelo Smith 7 16 0 0 1 0

Eric King 4 7 0 0 1 0

I know stats don't tell the whole story but it makes for a good reference.

As for my grades, Delmas gets a B+. Only because of some stupid penalties and being a bit over aggressive. The rest of the unit gets a huge F. Way to much poor tackling and way to many big plays given up.

So there you have it. Who do you want to stay, who do you want to go. If we sort that out first, then maybe we can get a handle on how soon in the draft we need to address this area and if there are any FAs we might be interested in. As always, thanks for your input. Like I said, I have a week knowledge of the secondary. I will try and post something on other units as well in the near future. Fire away.
