Scott Linehan to Coach Quarterbacks
Yesterday I speculated that if a new quarterbacks coach isn't hired in the very near future, somebody already on the staff would simply coach the QBs at the Senior Bowl. As it turns out, it looks like that will be the case on a permanent basis.
Also, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan will take over the duties of the quarterback coach.
As far as I know Linehan has never officially been a quarterbacks coach in the NFL, but he held that position at a few of his stops in the college ranks.

I am pretty sure he was also a QB in college
If I am not mistaken, he played QB at Idaho when Denny Erickson coached there, and he was a UDFA that was signed as a QB by the Cowboys. He had a career ending shoulder injury before training camp began, which landed him in coaching to stay in the sport. He may not be a great QB coach, but at least he knows the position.
How important are position coaches?
Are they something that is that important? I could imagine QB coach to be one of the if not the most important
I'd say they would be
The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.

Staff
will be fine… let fix this defense..
Stallworth may be a WR we should get.. he says he’s hungry.. hmmm. Lions?
GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
I'd actually like that pickup
Staff will have some real weapons. Pettigrew, Calvin, and Stallworth are a solid foundation to build an offense on.
QB coach
Linehan is a perfect fit for the QB coach position. He will turn Stafford into a top 10 NFL QB in 3 years.
I hate people pulling double duty
It just means that you get neither job at 100% focus. Stupid idea.
QB coach
About all they do is wash and handle the balls. Hmm. I need one of those, as long as it’s a she.
really?
It’s a good thing your a Lions fan and can handle disappointment. :P

Maybe they thought it was better for Stafford to have one less person telling him what to do.
That’s what I think at least.
