Lions Activate Jack Williams From PUP List, Release Dante Wesley
Now that we are done with the first six weeks of the 2010 season, players on the PUP list are eligible to be activated and start playing. For the Lions, that meant that they were able to activate cornerback Jack Williams, who has been on the PUP list since training camp opened back in the summer.
Williams was stuck on the PUP list because he tore his ACL a year ago in his debut with the Lions. The injury kept him from being 100% for an extended period of time, so he had to stay on the PUP list and miss the first six weeks of the season. He is now on the 53-man roster, though, and hopefully he will help upgrade the cornerback position a bit going forward.
To make room on the roster for Williams, the Lions released cornerback Dante Wesley. Wesley was let go during the final round of roster cuts, but Detroit brought him back at the end of last month to help with special teams.
UPDATE: Williams has not apparently been activated just yet.

I like this move
I can’t really remember Wesley doing anything positive, even on special teams. I just remember him getting flagged last week for blocking out of bounds.

totally agree
I can’t agree with you more. His first play back when they resigned him was a penalty. That seemed like all he was good for was stupid special teams penalties.
Well for those of us that are preaching..hold these players accountable for their bad play
and stupid mistakes. I say… Watch you step Mr. Wade. Jack is back.

The coaches spoke very highly of him.
Outside of that, I have no clue. We have to try someone else in Wade’s spot. They are abusing him.
It's been a long, tough road - welcome back !
I can’t even begin to imagine the effort you put forth in coming back. Let’s see what you have and best of luck !

This is the guy!!!
We didnt get to see much of him last year. If he is healthy he will be a good one. Loved his game in college and with Denver before his release last year.

Hey, it's Jack!
I like him…I think. It’s been a while…
RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.
He was supposedly lights out in training camp so hopefully he ends up playing well

Williams never practiced in training camp

well, then he never missed any coverage assignments or got burned on any plays in camp
Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...
My bad, for some reason I seem to remember the coaches talking this guy up but you are correc, he was on the active PuP during training camp which prevents him from practicing
For some reason this guy has always had rave reviews even going back to Denver

But he also seems like a player that I would be willing to call injury prone. Maybe his small stature is just too much to overcome at the NFL level. I always worry about that with our smaller guys, if they can hold up physically.

Good deal.
Not the biggest fan of Wesley, and glad to see J.Will come back and add another Williams to the squad.
I hope he can stay healthy man...
We all know I am on the Jack Williams bandwagon
