18 Lions Players Miss Practice; Detroit Releases Paul Pratt
In addition to releasing defensive back Dante Wesley, the Lions have parted ways with Paul Pratt, who was just signed off the practice squad before Sunday's game against the Giants.
It was originally thought that Wesley's spot on the roster went to Jack Williams, who is coming off the PUP list. As it turns out, though, he apparently has not actually been activated by the team, although he did practice today.
Cornerback Jack Williams came off the Physically Unable to Perform list this week and can practice with the team for three weeks before the team has to make a decision on whether to activate him, waive him or put him on injured reserve. Williams practiced with the Lions today but a decision on his future hasn't been made yet.
18 players were sidelined during practice today. The lengthy list is as follows: QB Shaun Hill, RB Jahvid Best, RB Kevin Smith, WR Calvin Johnson, WR Nate Burleson, WR Bryant Johnson, TE Brandon Pettigrew, TE Will Heller, OT Jeff Backus, OG Stephen Peterman, DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, DT Corey Williams, DT Andre Fluellen, LB DeAndre Levy, LB Zack Follett, CB Alphonso Smith, CB Nathan Vasher and S Louis Delmas.
Only about half of the starters starters on each side of the ball were actually able to practice today, but the good news is that Matthew Stafford was one of them.

Glad to see Staff back!
Do you think Pratt goes back to the PS?
Perhaps
Assuming he’s not claimed.

They say some people never go crazy.... what a boring life that must be!!
LOL
So most of the entire starting offense was out for practice, but hey…at least Stafford was able to make a go of it.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
Fortunately most of the OL was getting reps which is the most...
important thing right now. Getting them in synch with Staff is critical. I think the other guys are just getting a much deserved rest.

I'm okay with this.
Glad to see the team taking a needed rest after playing real hard for six weeks straight.
Yeah not much of a suprise here
As much as i usally hope for the bye to be later in the year – hoping for a longer season – this time it worked out well for us.
1 slice, 1 beer, 5 more reps.
WTF I got Mayhewed
Mayhew took my bribe to activate Pratt used the money to sign Scheffler to an extension then he activates Williamsof of PUP and cuts Pratt again, that man is devious.
I thought being lazy was a bad thing, So I gave up thinking.
LMAO!
Man that made me almost fall outta my chair! Thanks i have had a pretty slow day I needed that!
2 spots open on team
LB from Miami …. Carpenter practiced today… I wonder could he be the next FA LB for the Lions. We need help there badly.
GO LIONS in 2010! They are better than you think... You better not overlook these boys.. They are about to take control. So close!!!
Why bring up Pratt and cut him???
Atleast #9 is back

Wow
Didn’t think they even had practice this week. Not saying we don’t need it, but dang, give the guys a week off.
They can have the bye week off
after they win a couple games. Until then, I think they need the practice.
Clint Ingram?
Should we take a look at him – he just got released today?
Couldn't be worse than Palmer against the run
I like Palmer’s pass D, but him starting at MLB is a huge weakness against the run, and one of the reasons we’re getting gashed so bad for big plays.

he was on the PUP list
Saints released him saying that he didn’t recover fast enough.

That's a lot of players
But it’s a bye week, so I suppose rest is needed.
RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.
need to protect our quarterbacks like they are gold, and get matt a metal harness to protect his shoulders!
let’s see some steel toed shoes for our runners so they don’t get foot injuries anymore. Stafford needs a metal girder apparatus to protect both his glass shoulders from injuries from any angle, that juts out further than his joint sockets. And all the guys need knee protectors with metal on both sides so their knees don’t get ripped around and twisted. Thank goodness the head butt is outlawed now, but why not make helmets with a Darth Vader structure reaching to the shoulder to keep from having helmets ripped off and the head from being slammed against the top of the helmet in a head butt? That additional back of the neck to shoulder structure will protect against any concussions happening.
That said, we are so far superior this year, that statistically, we still have a good shot at going to the Superbowl, because few teams in the NFC are much ahead of us and everybody has lost at last two games. WE ARE ABLE TO WIN ALL THE REST OF OUR GAMES, AND THAT WOULD GIVE US A SEASONAL 11-5 RECORD, WITH 7-5 IN OUR CONFERENCE. IT’S ENOUGH TO GIVE US POSITION TO GO TO PLAYOFFS AND THUS TO THE SUPERBOWL. HOW ABOUT THAT, HEY, GUYS? LET’S DO IT!
DON’T LET ANYBODY TOUCH OUR QUARTERBACKS, GUYS! COACHES, HEED THIS CAREFULLY! THE OTHER SIDES HAVE BEEN CRIPPLING OUR QBS DELIBERATELY, WHILE WE LEAVE THEIRS ALONE. WE ALL KNOW TEAMS TARGET CRIPPLING THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PLAYERS, SO PROTECT THEM, ALREADY!
