Sorry if it's already been mentioned here, but today the Lions worked out free agent LB Bobby Carpenter, most recently of the Miami Dolphins, drafted originally in the 1st round by the Dallas Cowboys in 2006 out of Ohio State.
Given the recent cuts and roster moves, I don't see the Lions NOT picking him up, if he is willing to come to Detroit.
I know Carpenter was an underachiever to say the least, but he has good size (6'2", 250) and some experience. After getting LoJack from the Seahawks, I'm wondering if we couldn't attempt to turn around another faltering former first rounder. Gunther and Schwartz seem to be able to get the most out of players with questionable histories (Alphonso Smith, Corey Williams) so maybe this is a good move by the FO.
We can't say we don't need another LB, and at least Carpenter has the pedigree (as a OU alum) to potentially turn it around. What do you guys think?
