I've heard it all week, the excuses are already starting to pour in and the entire Detroit Fan Base and of course our good friends in the media are all going down a Democrats favorite road… pointing fingers. It's not Jim Swartz guys, period. It's not coaching, it's not play calling, it's not even "clock management." It’s the same thing that haunts us every year that would haunt any other undisciplined team. Dropped passes (Pettigrew), Stupid penalties (Offensive Line), turnovers (special teams), poor tackling (defense). Do you think honestly think that if somebody like Bill Parcells was out there that we would all the sudden start catching balls, commit less holding penalties, and not fumble the football on a kickoff return?
Anyone who played at least high school football could diagnose the real struggles that occur on field. Coaches make mistakes all the time, there not perfect. It's a well known fact that penalties and turnovers will absolutely destroy your chances of winning. Can a coach fix stupid?
In my opinion, Minnesota was probably the worst game our offensive line has had since last year's game against Pittsburgh… you remember the one where we got the ball back with under 2 minutes left in the game ready to score and we gave up 4 sacks in a row… yeah that’s right, four in row. You really can't say that we never try to address our offensive line! 2 years ago we drafted Godsler (who in my opinion is terrible). 10 years ago we drafted Backus and Dominic who everyone seems to praise just because they've been around and have been surprisingly healthy for 10 years. Before them we drafted two Tackles in a row, remember that fat slob Aaron Gibson? Nobody has panned out and right now our QB is nursing a dislocated shoulder AGAIN because our line could not stop the pass rush.
We're 0-4 now and some are blaming Swartz, some are blaming it on injuries (the usual load of crap) and some are just saying what it is and that is that the lions simply do not believe they can win a football game. Chicago's game was ours and I don't care what the rule is but anyone who has played the game in some capacity or another knows the difference between a catch and a drop and that was a damn catch. Congratulations Lovie, that one call basically saved your job. Green Bay we should have won too, if we didn't turn the ball over so much and give up so many penalties do you really think we would have lost? Green Bay could not stop us! The Lions are better than they look, they just need to believe it for 4 quarters.
