Okay, I know I'm supposed to be a gloomy gus about this week's performance, but I've been an optimistic fellow for a long time. Here are some thoughts for you about the "direction" of the Lions franchise. Everyone wants to overlook that we have been decimated by injuries this season. "Everyone plays hurt" is a nice sentiment, but it doesn't explain injury reports like this and this. As an exclamation point, the win against the Redskins showed them a lot more nicked up than us. A lot of teams are missing starters, but the Lions are the walking dead. It shows.
Now, without further ado, I give you some numbers from the last few season.
Point differential in losses
2010 : -37, 7 losses, -5.3 pts/game (or -32, 6 losses, -5.2 pts/game)
2009 : -238, 14 losses, -17 pts/game
2008 : -249, 16 losses, -15.6 pts/game
Point differential in wins
2010 : +50, 2 wins, +25 pts/game (or +51, 3 wins, +17 pts/game)
2009 : +6, 2 wins, +3 pts/game
