Hill missed a wide open Burleson on the two point try
Not that it matters any more but I've been watching the Lions go for that 2-point try try, and Hill must of forgot to check all his receivers because Burleson was wide open. It's kind of funny but he doesn't really even look at the left side of the end zone.
I took two things from yesterday's game
1. I'm going to start to see who's available at the end of the season for FA running backs, I thought the Lions should of tried to trade for Willis McGahee because I thought he could of gave us between 1-3 years of decent play.
2. I'm really starting to question Schwartz in some areas of his coaching ability, just to many yellow flags man, way to many.
PS: On a side note, I'm not gonna judge Hill yesterday because he did have a fucking cast on his forearm, but really. Hill should not of been out their and yet our coaching staff thought he gave us a better chance to win rather than a healthy Stanton. If Stantons that bad I'd rather them put that rookie in they just signed, or sign somebody who might be on the team next year, not a guy they clearly don't trust and won't be on the team...

Yeah
why are they keep on keeping Stanton out of the field and on the roster? Starting QB is down, 2nd QB`s hurt…. This is where I put my 3rd string QB in (playing Madden that is). Really, why not let the man go if you don`t trust him?
Best was wide open too
No one followed him into the right flat.
It was 3rd & 7; Delhomme dropped to pass
"Man, I hope, I don't get knocked on my ass"
He felt twisting and clawing, "When will it stop?"
Then SUH ripped his head off, like a bottle of pop!!
Yeah, I'm a Lions fan
Was just gona say that too
Best And Burleson were npth WIDE OPEN!!!

Bottom line...
WTF is the #2 offense in the NFC only scoring 3 points in the first half?
WTF is the #2 offense in the NFC tryin’ to run the ball in a nice dry weather early on, when they know damn well its gonna rain and get nasty later on… not to mention the Lions were behind… not to mention they JUST SIGNed their kicker…
WTF!!!!!!??
I think
Hill was so focused on trying to get Calvin open ( Who he didn’t throw to) That we wasted 2 great oppertunitys to score. It is what it is as a Lions fan you eventually get use to games like these. Hopefully they will not happen as often as usual. I hope this weekend we can just regain are dignity if nothing else.
Did I mention..I love the Phonz!
All I have to say to this post is......
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BURLESON WAS WIDE EFFING OPEN AND HILL THREW IT OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hill did play a good game, but that last attempt was brutal. Hell, he could have even run it in to the backside.
I thought Hill run blocked horribly...
He also has to try to clean up his false starts and holding.

WTF!!!!!
Hill throws the ball out of bounds giving his team NO chance of converting the 2 pt conversion and he plays a good game? Under no circumstance is it ok to throw the ball in bounds on a 2 point try. If no one is open try to run it in, or at least throw it in bounds so your reciver has a chance.
I think its funny that stanton got so much crap last week for throwing the ball, on a bad playcall, but Hill still gets love for throwing the ball out of the back of the end zone. He might as well have taken a knee.
Man.
You do realize even Peyton, Brady, Unitas, Elway, and Sonny make bad throws, right? That sometimes it just slips out of your hand wrong?
You act like it was a conscious decision to throw it too high.
Yes I do realize that
Everyone makes bad throws. But what I can’t understand is how you think its ok for Hill lob a ball out of the back of the endzone to loose a game, but Drew Stanton makes a bad throw and he is worst QB in the history of the world.
I understand that the QB can’t make all the plays, but NFL qbs are paid to give their recivers a chance to make plays and Hill gave pettigrew no chance to make a play.
It's not okay.
But to call his decision making into question over it? Really? Obviously he knows the ball isn’t supposed to go out of bounds in that situation. He didn’t “throw it away”, he just made a bad throw.
I’m not making you the bad guy, I just think it’s a tad bit off base.
He probably could of done that too, or at least came closer
I’ve watched the 2-point try probably 20 times now, he was hell bent on the right side of the back of the end zone… : )
This isn't Madden
You can’t just sign a dude off the street and put him in.
Unless it’s Jeff effin George. (Glory be to the George)
Burleson had a man on him, not tight, but he was covered.
Best was Wide Open going into the endzone.

lets be honest
petti was open after he first turned around and then was open going to the back end and he still threw that effin ball out of bounds. Out of effin bounds. Thinking you have the cards dealt against you can damage a players confidence (ala the way we are losing all these close games). I think Shaun Hill had no confidence in that play. BTW everybody keeps espousing that all the good teams win all their games with 64 perfect plays per game. When are we gonna wake up and understand that when you take control of your own destiny by BEING THE ONE that makes the pass/catches the stinky throw/runs to daylight when there was none, that people will look at the rest of your shoddy work and say it’s genius. You want evidence of a great player that made his team win, watch what Santonio Holmes did to finish a game that was stalemated even in overtime.
yeah, it looks better from that angle.
We should have had CJ running the route that Nate had, and Nate running the route CJ ran.
Line up the tall guy on the outside, 1 on 1, or if they do double CJ, then that is 1 less defender in the middle for Nate.

Hill did pretty good.
Of course we needed better! I’m really hoping we bring it to the Cowboys and I’m hoping they underestimate us!
me too..
I work w/ WAY TOO MANY COWBOY FANS.. and i dont live in dallas… but i told them all if we win the better call in sick for the next MONTH
Lions fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's me looking into the future at the Lions going to the Play-offs by 2011 and going to the Super Bowl in 2012!!!
I drink a lot of "spiked" blue kool-aid... Having no problem sharing cuz it sure is good!!!!

HE THREW THE BALL AWAY!!!!
Seriously, I could see that he was anxious and was ready to get rid of the ball, and pretty much had his mind made up where he wanted to go, why not throw a bullet in there and hope that it makes it through, or even give someone a chance to catch it. You need the 2 pts and throwing it away doesn’t even give anyone a chance. Look at what happened in the Jax. game. Crazy things happen with deflections…… GIVE YOUR RECEIVERS A CHANCE TO MAKE A PLAY…. don’t throw it away.
Speculation is just that... lets make our judgements on the field!!!!!
agreed

I know your right
Its what you get when the guy had a cast half way up his hand a few days ago. It also shows how much they don’t trust Stanton.

Calvin
" You go right to the center of the cross bar, right at the ( T ) and jump, everybody else play rebound, Hill, hit the cross bar at 80%, break. " Unless they grow a bunch of 6 ft 4 in db`s or freaks that can jump out of the playground, i would like our odd`s. Don`t even try and hide it, make them stop it.
