Shawn Crable on waivers
Must of missed this as he was released the 17th.... The former 3rd round pick looked good against the Steelers the other night. It would be nice to add another body at LB/Special teams.

From the Pats Pulpit.....
Today, in a surprising move, the New England Patriots have announced the release of outside linebacker Shawn Crable. The 6-5, 250 pound outside linebacker was a third round pick of the Patriots in 2008. He spent the majority of his first two seasons in the league on injured reserve, before ultimately being released at the start of training camp this July after he couldn't pass his physical.
The Patriots announced Tuesday evening they have released linebacker Shawn Crable. The Michigan product, a third-round pick of New England back in 2008, played in six games in 2010 and registered four total tackles, a half a sack and one special teams tackle. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Crable was inactive for the first eight games of the 2008 season before finishing the year on injured reserve. He spent the entire 2009 season on injured reserve, and was released by the Patriots on July 28 and signed to the practice squad on September 6. He was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Sept. 25.
Anybody have more info on this guy? What do you think?

Shawn Crable
Take it from a Michigan fan, the guy has all the talent in the world but he’s very inconsistent. He will make 3 or 4 awesome plays then follow that up with a couple plays of missed assignments or penalties.

then he should fit right in than.

Yep, reminded me of Ernie Sims, but for depth, definately!!

Here's his draft scouting report
An emerging talent at the strong-side linebacker position, Crable reminds some scouts of Carl Banks, an All-American at that position for the Wolverines’ arch-rivals, Michigan State, who went on to earn All-Pro honors during a stellar career with the New York Giants. The talented youngster has the same excellent read-and-react skills and playing strength, doing a great job of attacking the backfield coming off the edge that Banks showed throughout his college and professional career.
With Crable’s tall and rangy frame, some talent evaluators feel he could bulk up for a possible switch to the defensive line, where his pass rushing and pass coverage skills could excel as a hybrid linebacker/defensive end. Evident by his 28.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage as a senior, the Wolverine has proven to be among the elite blitzers in the 2008 NFL Draft pool.

On the other hand...
Belicheck might be bating the Lions to pick him up for some synister reason! Muuuaaahahahaha!
Maybe a U of M fan can remind me
but didn’t Michigan run a 4-3 in 2008? It this just another case of taking a guy from one system. And trying to square-peg him into another?

Crable's last season was in 2007
And yes we ran a 4-3.

as some said above...
he has the talent, size, speed, and makes quick decisions. If he makes a bone headed play, can’t that be coached up? just sayin.

Normally I would say pass
I don’t care if he played for michigan. Truth is he plas a posistion we are at need in. If he can play a 4-3 and pass a physical I say pick him up we can replace him later. Crable is somewhat injury prone but a experinced backup can’t hurt. To be honest though we don’t go after him it wouldn’t break my heart. Crable is only a popular name because of who he has played for he hasn’t done anything. He’s not merriman either atleast he is still young.
Did I mention..I love the Phonz!
We are certainly hurting at linebacker.
The injuries are a big red flag, but why not bring him in for a look and see where his physical abilities stand. If we were stacked at LB, I would say no, but we are not.
Im a MSU guy as yiou all know.
And I say why not give him a look. Cant hurt. Doesnt matter where a guy goes t ocollege if he can play we should give him a look. Im sure people would be happy if we got Greg Jones in the draft. Doesnt matter where a guy goes to school if he can play we should give him a look.

Loved him
at UM but hasn’t been able to stay on the field since. IF he could pass a physical he would def be worth a tryout.
I knew
There was going to be this post. Although, I always thought CLF was a state fan. I would take a look at him if I were the Lions. He might be good depth behind JP on the strong side
The beginning of the end of the misery
Crable would start over Peterson if he learned our system
Michigan ran a scheme similar to our in 2007 where the LBs would blitz a lot. He would be an awesome pickup.
My concern is definitely his health
Can he stay healthy? If so, then definitely sign him.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
my problem is if the best coach in the nfl cant fix him then we cant
(no i am not saying we should fire jim b/c i thing we should give him like 5 years befor we consider it)
health is also a big conser

I think Bellichek is a product of the system, at least partly...
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
to a degree maybe.. but he is still one of the best coaches ever and arguable best in the nfl right now

I see him very much like Walsh
A great judge of talent that fits his system.

well
Most successful Pats linebackers are veterans that can grasp the complex system. Crable doesnt fit that bill

Ya
Jets signed him to their practice squad. I would hate it if he turned into anything.

We now have room on the Practice Team
Caleb got called up so stick him away till he gets healthy and see what he has. If it dosent work out then cut him…That simple !
