Okay, I know that the Lions are on their way back to being the Kings of the Jungle, what with the emerging dominance of the defense and the regrooving of the offense - and yes, I know, one game at a time, don't look past the next team, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong - I am anxiously awaiting this Sunday's game against the Jets and hope the Honolulu Blue pounds the Gang Green. And I wish/want for some way to watch the game way out here!!
The thing is... I'm deep in the heart of New England; a stone's throw away from Boston (well, okay, 40 minutes, but still) and still (always!) a die hard Lions fan. With that in mind, I'm sure you guys (and gals, too!) can understand the pain, the mockery, the pity parties I've had to endure the past several years regarding the Detroit football team. While there's been the rare Patriot (read: football fan) fanatic who actually appreciates what Detroit had done this year, the vast majority has scoffed at me or had other various expressions of mockery and/or disgust when they discovered that I would not be cheering for their team on Thanksgiving. Oh sure, if the Pats were playing any other team then I'd be fine for rooting for them. But not against my boys ! I also get some ribbing from my wife - my lovely wife who I cannot fault for rooting for the Pats since she's actually from the area we're in at the present, but still... it hurts a bit, ya know?
I've also made a few very small bets at my work - of course, you know who they all picked, and who I picked, following along this story. I'm feeling confident that the Lions could actually surprise and shock the nation and I'd gain some small measure of redemption.
After hearing/reading about the Lions' games in the past few weeks, I daresay that New England would be in for a nasty rude surprise come Turkey Day. Just tell King Kong Suh not to hurt Brady too much, he's a Wolverine and I loved him at the Big House!
Enough about New England - Bring on Sanchez, Revis and the Jets! Oh, and can someone send me a live link to the game if available? Thanks!
