10 years. It has been a long time since I have seen the reason that I love this team so much. Being a Redskins fan by location / semi heart (whole family is one) but being a lions fan at full heart and core got a rebirth last Sunday. My love for them began in the Barry years, the best years. When those years passed, I felt it urgent that I get some gear to represent. I bought my first jersey, a Barry Sanders one (age 13). I wore that baby all the time, didn't matter, they knew who I was rooting for. 

After seeing all the NFL films top 100, Barry at  #17 (a disgrace) it got me thinking. I know I was right in rooting for Barry, but one thing the narrator on NFL films said was "Barry carried the whole team for a decade". That resonated with me, while I did have a lions jersey, it was a Sanders one. Last Sunday, I saw something great, and I felt the pride of being a Lions fan once again. 

So in the spirit of this well needed and deserved resurgence, I am buying a Lions beanie, because now more than I ever, I feel we are working as a team, a unit, brothers. I can't wait to walk to class, down the street or go to eat and wear that beanie. Have people be like "wtf, is that a lions beanie", to which I will reply "your damn right it is". Like joshuan said in his post, we are finally coming together and making a team that we can be happy about, and I want to do all that we can to support them. Go Lions!
