Around SBN: Is Adebayor About To Become A Full-Time Spur?

OK so now what????

Let's stop all the B.S. right now, Stafford is going on I.R. He's not coming back for the Bill, or Thanksgiving, if were luckly he'll be full health by training camp 2011.

What I want to know is what should be do now, how far away is Hill from being healthy.   Would you rather have Hill under the center knowing what he can do because he had a little success with us and some starting exprience with the 49er's.   Or would you rather give Stanton his 1st true chance at trying to do somthing.

If Hill didn't get hurt during the Giants game I'd have to say just give it to Hill, but with him having a broken forearm I'm sorry guy's I want the Drew Stanton experience to begin.   Let's keep him on a game to game basis, if he goes out there agaisnt the Bills and throws 3 picks and is horrible well then Hill can come back for the Dallas game.   But what if Stanton plays a decent game and we win, give him another start.   Personally I think Stanton is gonig to play well and make some of you out there have a big slice of Stanton cock pie for giving up on him when not even being given a proper chance to progress.

As for 2011, injuries can be a freak thing, I don't care what schwarz say's Stafford didn't look fully healthy, but I can't blame Schwartz for crossing his fingers putting him in.   Well it bit him in his ass, how can you say it's not the same injury that knocked him out in the 1st game when it's the same shoulder, can you separate your shoulder in two different places???? never heard of that before.  OK Stafford lost his 1st two seasons with injuries he still the best QB we've had in Detroit for the last 10 years..

I want to see Stanton get some playing time, if he sucks then Hill our fail safe QB and becomes a game manager QB.   So we have to hope for the best with Stafford, can't give up on him yet, but we also have to be prepared for the worse and see if Stanton can be the guy if injuries take Stafford away from us.   Holy shit did this season become complicated

NFL network says he is NOT going on IR

That they actually hope to play him again this year. I have to question this call..I think he needs the surgery bradford had.

Did I mention..I love the Phonz!

Going to wait until Doc Andrews takes a look at him

But if Matthew goes on the IR. Stanton and Hill will have to lead us the rest of the way. And looking to finish the season with 5 wins.

absolutely agree

unless some of us here are doctors (which i would guess if we were doctors we’d have better ways to spend our time than blogging on the lions) we have NO idea what should be done in Stafford’s situation. Some can say he should/shouldn’t play for the rest of the season based on what they know from their own shoulder injuries, their friend’s injuries, or what they’ve seen in the past. We don’t know what his shoulder really looks like at this point so why panic? I feel that I have to remind you all that even though we invest a lot of time, energy, and money into this franchise, the guys making the decision have invested $72 million in this guy to lead said franchise. I don’t think they’d be stupid enough to potentially throw all that money down the drain.

Haha I'm sorry

I didn’t mean to offend anyone here. I’m sure we’re all doing great things in life outside of this blog. I guess that part didn’t make much sense to say. I know doctors in my life who live and breathe football.

I'm not giving up

STAFFORD – I say that we put him on the I.R. NOW and give him the surgery that we all know that he needs. that way there is no doubt in anyones mind that he is ready to lead this team next year and beyond. If there is a healthy Stafford going into next year and the same old bullshit happens then yes I believe that we should move on to the next project.

HILL – I love Hill as our number 2 QB. It just sucks that he had to go down as well. Hill will be an excellent back up that could start and lead this team to WINS this year and possibly 3-5 years to come when ever we call upon him. Not because he is a Lion but he is my favorite back-up in the league. Well that is when ever Vick isnt a back-up.

STANTON – Heres the fun one. I actually like Drew and I think that with all the reps with the first team will help him in the game dramatically. Drew has come into games and ran the ball without being afraid of getting hurt. launched the ball down field cause he trusts his recievers and allot of times comes up short. The reason for that I’m sure of is that he may only get on a regular basis about 10% of the snapps with the 1st team offense. after a week of practice his time with the recievers will get better. Dont give up on Stanton just yet cause the longer he is at the helm as the #1 the more the O will trust him and the more this O will shine. I hope.

TRADE – I don’t know if there is anyone sittin on any teams bench worth going after but with the way thing are going we need another QB from somewhere to get us through the season. Our QB’s are getting rocked and if Hill can’t come back and if Stanton does blow goat then we need either a stop gap for the rest of the season loke a Vet from someone or a young guy like Dan L.(cant spell his name but the QB from one of the Mich schools). I liked his highlights.

DRAFT – If the team is not sure about Stsffords future health, If Stanton blows his chance and we get ridd of him come seasons end, If Hill stays our #2 which he will and we can’t find someone in freeagency or a trade this year then I think if someone falls to us in the 3rd round or somehow a top teir QB falls to us in the 2nd we should pull the trigger. I know we have gapping black holes on this team but just think with the team we have know and we had a solid, starting callaber, NCAA stud QB on our bench, then I don’t think anyone would be as woried as we are now.

GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, not giving up either.

I’m down with Drew, let’s see what he can do!

Worst case, he sucks balls…. cut him after the year and pick up a late round flier at QB for the 3rd spot. You know a Brady type…

Guy's come on, Stafford's going on I.R.

Listen I’m not a doctor, surprised??? but what team puts a franchise QB back out there after suffering two shouder injuries in the 1st 9 games of the season. The people hoping Stafford comes back sounds like there putting this season over his career

If we were locked for the playoff’s maybe but come on guy’s!!!!! this season is over, we gave it a hell of a ride. look forward to 2011 with a healthy Stafford

Why would you care what the Lions or Stafford are doing anyway?

You checked out emotionally for the season on Sunday…..Time to watch ladies curling,…Eh?

Shut off valve

And I still said I’m going to watch all the games, I’m just not going to get my panty’s in a bunch like you when the season goes to shit….

P.S. I started my vacation

Was hoping to watch Stafford kick the shit of the Bills, but find myself looking forward to watching Stanton lead the Lions. THE JETS LOSS WAS A KICK IN THE ASS, going to laugh my ass off is Stanton leads us to back to back wins…….

i would be suprised

that would be sweet if he came in and played well against the Bills and the Cowboys. That all I want for the rest of the year, also I want to beat the bears and the vikings.

I have no faith in Stanton

The sun shines on a dogs ass once in a while, and thats what happened with Stanton in the Giants game. Buffalo gets off the shnide this week because of him

The only hope I have against Buffalo...

is our defense stepping up and keeping the Bills score below 10 and Best/Smith having a huge day against by far the worst defense we have faced all season. If we can keep the ball on the ground for most of the game and limit Stanton’s stat line to under 20 throws we can win.

Bills fan on there site

Said they belive Stanton will throw for 300 yards and will mayhew them out af a 1st rounder for him LOL they have no faith in there team sunday.

Stanton should get his shot while Hill can't go

If he holds up, great. If not, give this young Zac kid a go. Hopefully either Hill or Stafford can return.

Come the fuck on

Stanton was terrible at MSU. He’s even worse in the NFL.

We’d be better off throwing a 74 year old Jeff George out there and let him just throw bombs to calvin all day.

by Thorpac on Nov 10, 2010 1:58 AM EST reply actions

Lets get behind Stanton.

As bad as everyone feels about Stafford getting hurt this might actully help us in the long run next season. We know what Shawn Hill can do so lets give Stanton a try.I don’t beleve that we were going to make the playoffs this season anyway. The last two weeks i have been watching the Browns play a rookie in Colt Mc Coy and beating the Saints and Patroits. This is a great oppertunity to see what Stanton can due and get him some much needed playing time. And if he does well which i think he will we could have 3 good quarterbacks for next year in case someone gets hurt.It will give one more draft and off season to add more talent to or roster so no matter who’s quarterback we can win anyway. And if where lucky which is hard to say as a Lions fan Stafford can comeback next year and have a great carear and take us to the Super Bowl.Quarterbacks are going to get hurt in the NFL so its important we have someone eles who can play Stanton and Hill.

Let's give him enough rope

I’ve seen several people opine to give Stanton a shot. I’m on board with that totally, if he wins great, if he loses we can finally free up his roster spot. There is just no excuse for keeping bad players on your roster. I say we play him and make sure he’s got plenty of rope, let him decide whether to hang himself or make some reigns and take them. Personally, I hope he does well. He’s in a Lions uniform so I’ll be screaming my damn head off. If he fails, I guess I’ll just be screaming after the game as well.

It's turkey, Lions and Macy's. Any other combination is just ludicrous.
