Lions Notes: Starter Not Named For Sunday; Stephen Peterman's Fines Rescinded
- Jim Schwartz didn't name a starter at quarterback this week, but based on the fact that Drew Stanton was taking all the first-team reps at practice on Friday, I would assume he will make his third straight start. Shaun Hill is listed as questionable, but I don't think he will be back until next week at the earliest.
- The NFL rescinded its fines against Stephen Peterman for his chop block penalties against the Jets. Apparently the NFL said that he never actually committed the penalties called against him, so the pair of $5,000 fines were erased. I'm not sure why it took this long to make that determination, but I guess we should be expecting to hear about how Ndamukong Suh's fine was rescinded sometime around the Super Bowl.
- It looks like Bobby Carpenter will get his first career start at linebacker for the Lions tomorrow, as he is expected to replace Landon Johnson in the starting lineup. Johnson is sick and is still recovering from the neck injury he suffered last week.
- It's unclear why, but Jim Schwartz apparently chewed out the team after Thursday's practice.
- An AFC scout said that Ndamukong Suh is "already one of the best defensive linemen in the league." An NFC scout compared him to Joe Greene and Reggie White.
- The Lions In Winter had a chance to interview Jahvid Best earlier this week.
- Louis Delmas will likely have surgery on his groin injury this upcoming offseason.
- Sunday's game will be the Buccaneers' seventh straight blackout. Yikes.
- Kyle Vanden Bosch has brought a lot to the Lions this season, both as a player and a mentor for fellow defensive linemen.
- In Don Banks' draft redux, he has the Lions picking Ndamukong Suh and Hillsdale offensive tackle Jared Veldheer (he has the Dolphins picking Jahvid Best at No. 28).
- Minnesota is going to start Joe Webb at quarterback this week. Tarvaris Jackson was placed on injured reserve (he couldn't even get a streak of consecutive starts going) and Brett Favre is still out. By the time Minnesota plays Detroit in two weeks it's possible Favre could be back, but even if he is I really like the Lions' chances of winning that game.
- In other NFC North news, Aaron Rodgers is out this week because of the concussion he suffered against the Lions last Sunday.
- The Redskins have benched Donovan McNabb and will start Rex Grossman on Sunday. What a clusterfuck the Redskins are right now.

I think it's great
That the implosion of the Redskins season started after we beat them and made McNabb look like shit.

The only legend around here is the one that exists in your own mind.
I hate how this Vikings game is shaping up
I can just see Brett Favre returning for his last game and putting up a good performance. That would be just our luck.

No, we're going to run the string out !
Think positive. We’ll win these last three games and go out winners with much confidence for 2011 !

Okay guys... FF poll/question...
Should I Start Joe Webb in the WR spot?… My 3 WRs right now are Woodhead(lol), Boldin, And Mason….
If I go Web… who gets booted?
My initial thought is let Mason sit this game out… but it is New ORleans and I’m thinking shoot out.
What say you?
I was gonna do that too
But Webb is a QB on CBS. No loophole lol.

So, with Peterman's fines,
does that mean that the NFL hands out fines before they look at the tapes? Oh the NFL and your cute ways of conspiracy, lies and hypocrisy. Will you ever change back to the NFL we all loved?
it means peterman was fighting it and the nfl gave up.. at least i would think thats how it happened

You guys are being too rough on Peterman
he’s not a great Guard, but he’s not a bad one either. We certainly could do worse.
For example...
Man-Ram could still be starting for us. I’ll take Peterman any day of the week. Though I guess that’s not saying much…
I think the D is going to have to step up huge again for us to win this one
Looks like another Stanton start. Hopefully he looks more like the Bears game Stanton and much less like the Packers game Stanton.

Will be nice to see Carpenter get some quality PT
very curious to see how he performs in our D. Not expecting much from him, but if he’s mediocre I’ll be content.
He looked okay last week
I mean to say. I don’t remember saying “Nice miss tackle you douche”. So I guess that was a positive.

Yeah, I think that's the standard here in Detroit for Linebackers, isn't it?
If you’re not screaming at the TV over missed tackles and bad pursuit angles, they must be pretty good… or pretty good for Detroit. Just sad……
Who else believes Jahvid should do the Carlton on the next td he scores?
he looks exactly like Alphonso Ribeiro
