Quick Thoughts from Miami

My vacation in Florida is coming near an end, but I was lucky enough to witness the last two Lions games in person, making this one of the best Christmas vacations I've ever taken. Here's a few quick thoughts about my trip to South Beach:

  • Miami fans were very blaze. Not sure if it was a result of them being out of the playoffs, or if that's just how Miami rolls, but I hardly got any glares or comments strolling around the concourse in my Delmas jersey.
  • Not as many Lions fans as the Bucs game, but in the 4th quarter you could hear every one of them. Proud of my Lions fans, once again.
  • Miami's slogan is "fins up" and it's the worst thing ever. Every time they scored they did this "fins to the left, fins to the right. We're at the only game in town" jingle (from a Jimmy Buffet song) and it will forever be branded in my brain and I hate Miami for it. I hate Jimmy Buffet and anyone who has ever liked him.
  • The wind was crazy on Sunday. Give a lot of credit to Dave Rayner for nailed a couple of key field goals.
Anyways, it's a lot of fun seeing the Lions in enemy terriorty, especially if they win. I encourage all of you fans to make at least one trip next year, as we now know this team can win on the road. It's one thing to bond with fellow Lions fans in Detroit, but there something special about seeing Lions fans in Miami or Dallas or San Francisco. When you lock eyes with a Lions fan on the road, you can see your own frustrations and struggle and see them all dissipate when the Lions answer the call.
It also feels pretty good to wake up in the morning and pick up the paper with this on the headline.
