Lions Notes: Dominic Raiola Fined $15,000
- The Lions have fined Dominic Raiola $15,000 for the comment he made to an opposing fan as he left the field following last Sunday's Dolphins game. Interestingly, Raiola was fined only half that two years ago after he flipped off Lions fans at Ford Field.
- Calvin Johnson, Chris Houston and Landon Johnson missed practice today for the Lions. It's unclear what their status is for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but right now all signs point to Calvin Johnson being the only one that is not doubtful right now.
- Only 1,500 tickets are available for Sunday's season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. Although the official deadline for a sellout is Thursday afternoon, a 24-hour extension would certainly be granted if a sellout isn't reached because the number of available tickets is so low. Regardless of when the sellout is reached, it's a pretty good bet that for the seventh time in eight home games this season the Lions will not be blacked out. After having so many blackouts a year ago, selling out seven of eight home games would certainly be a big achievement for the Lions.
- Brett Favre ended up getting fined $50,000 for his role in the Jenn Sterger scandal. His fine actually is for not cooperating with the NFL's investigation rather than any wrongdoing as far as what text messages he allegedly sent, but $50,000 is nothing for him anyway. That's equivalent to only four and half minutes of game action based on his current contract, so it would have been much more worthwhile to suspend him. Roger Goodell decided against that, however, meaning Favre will be eligible to lace up his cleats for what would likely be the final time of his career on Sunday. Whether or not he's actually healthy enough to play is another story, though.

I bet Favre would have loved to just pay that fine a couple months ago and be done with it.
Would have been crazy if the league hit him with a one game suspension.

Funny I thought the game was sold out last week. When they announced that Staff was put on the IR.
Apparently a few people here seemed to think that was the only reason that Staff was not IRed a few weeks ago.
Would it be too much for those to admit that they were completely wrong about that? Hmmm?
Could the fact that the game is not yet sold out
have anything to do with the fact that he was put on IR?

+1
He was a #1 pick after all. Maybe it just took 5 years to reach his potential.
Ty Cobb is the greatest baseball player of all time:
1911 AL MVP
.367 career batting average (highest ever)
54 career steals of home (most all time)
Won 12 batting titles, including 9 in a row from 1907 to 1915.
Third all time in stolen bases with 892.
Second in runs scored with 2,245.
Second in career hits with 4,191.
Batted under .320 only once in his career.
Batted over .400 three times.
who would have thought. Putting him back in a system that him made him a first round pick.
would be a good thing.

We lead the NFL in something, too bad its not wins
12—Special teams takeaways since 2008, the most in the NFL in that span.
That Wendling is a heck of a player. We are going to miss Landon, that man has a lot of heart.

it's been a season of surprises.
Out of nowhere the penalties seem to have dropped, guys I expected small things from have come up big. Expected Drew Stanton to play poorly, and he didn’t. Expected blowouts and guys giving up, but didn’t see much of that.

He is out having should surgery. Not sure how far he will fall. But he was at the same level as Harris. Before the injury.
