Cliff Avril....PAY DAT MAN

Avril-body-091203_medium

Its obvious I think to most that Cliff Avril has played lights out this season. His 3 year contract is only through 2010..So Martin Mayhew this is NOT in discussion Cliff Avril must return to the Lions in 2011 and he deserves to be paid very well. There are tons of reasons to pay Cliff Avril, He's young and still has an upside, He is a key to this new Defensive line and he is finally reaching his full potential. On top of all that will be difficult to replace. Plus you have to show all the young players on this team that there hard work and effort will not go unnoticed. Before we go into the draft I think we must get Avril locked down for 4-5 years. While off-season signings are importnant as Jim Schwartz said we are in the buisness of getting talent not giving it up. I can say personally I belive getting Arvil undercontract should be priority #1 theres no garuntee that there will be a franchise tag in the new CBA. If Mayhew is as great as we all think this will get done as soon as the season is over.
