Around SBN: In Crunch Time, Spurs Don't Change Their Game

The Competition Committee.

Why is the President of the Atlanta Falcons, the Vice-Chairman of the competition Committee?

I just watched NFL Total Access on NFL Network, and while explaining the call on the Suh hit.  The question was raised by the host. "Will the NFL ever look to review penalties?"

Here is that Mother Fuckers answer. (paraphrased)

"We don't ever want to put our officials in a position where one has the benefit of Replay to overturn the call of the other official who made the call in real time."     He Actually Fucking Said That.....!!!!!!!!

What is the point of having Replay at all then, If you don't ever want the Replay official to be right.

I gotta believe the NFL is doing this with the "calls" this year, to prove a point to the Players, in a CBA year.  And because our owner is sooo Inactive with the day to day operations of the NFL we are catching the short end of the stick.  Have you seen any egregious calls against the Falcons this year.?.?.?.?.?.?

Fuck the NFL, and Fuck "this old boys club"

I'm READY for a LOCKOUT!

And just to stake my claim,  I'm In the Players corner on this one.  Fuck you Goodell.  Go Ahead, Fuck with this sport. And you will end up like the NBA, the NHL, Or Boxing!!!!!!

What I heard....

"Yeah, it was a crap call… unfortunately, it was “A” call… by a veteran Ref… and we gotta back our refs…. That being said, I’ll leave it up to the NFL FO on why this shit call turned into a fine"

by CLF on Dec 9, 2010 1:08 PM EST up reply actions

His explanation was BS

Don’t they over turn other calls refs make on the field.Boundary catches,Touchdowns. He was just trying to save his butt, like the Calvin TD earlier vs Bears,He said Calvin had control but not finish the process?

While I agree that Goodell should be thrown into Jackson State Penitentiary

wearing only a garter belt and hose, I do not want to see the NFL go the way of the NHL and MLB with a lockout. Unfortunately it seems that being in any governing body, from the NFL league office to Washington D.C., causes the brains to drain out of people’s ears. Let’s hope those in charge find earplugs before it’s too late.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results. William Clay Ford, you are insane.

UNBELIEVABLE

I was wondering that same thing; reviewing bad calls. Here is another one that makes my blood boil, on a recent Sunday Night Football game Bob Costas talked about the replay process. He said that the coached upstairs watch the network feed, to determine if they are going to challenge so, now the network can influence the out come of games by delaying replays, I know you’ve all seen it or not seen as it goes; you sit there and wait for the replay that never comes or comes after next play. Networks are some of the most greedy companys out there, tell me they don’t play to favorable markets. The alternative to the network feed is the in stadium feed, that is purposely delayed during questionable plays, Costas called this home field advantage, I call it fucking cheating.

Players?

I own a small business, and could not imagine my employees coming up to me a telling me they want half the revenue. Don’t start talking about their short careers either, the lowest paid players make more than most people do in a LIFE TIME. Some of these players don’t deserve the money they make because of their douche bag behavior anyway, talk about negative reinforcement. I say lock them out, most of these guys have no other skill than what you see on the field, so when push comes to shove they would play for half the money, what else are they gonna do, and where else could they gain the celebrity status some of them crave ( once again these are usually the idiots they need the attention). It would be a great start in the restructuring of the financial reward system in this country.

hey i've thought a lot too about the controlling of playing replays

Mccan’tbrlieve it’s td return… no replay and it looked good during the play but the replay showed very late. Seems like the director from the network could really control a game.

Atlanta’s TOTALLY been job this year, like when Roddy pushed off on last second game winning TD – refs are out for them.

As a small business owner though i can’t agree in this situation.

Some of these players don’t deserve the money they make because of their douche bag behavior anyway, talk about negative reinforcement.

exactly how many of these douche bag type guys are there? Some could be making young mistakes (do you hire young people in your business?)

NFL Lions picks from 2007
You think Ramzee made enough to never work again?
How about Johnny Baldwin?
Would you recognize these “celebrities” if you were in a room of 50 people with them?
How about Dylan Gandy? he’s playing now

just saying, it sounds a little crazy to me to make such a statement that stereotypes the men who play the game, but I agree with the first post!

I wish they made ref grades public –
I mean how did the NFL feel the refs did in the Dallas game?

Your right

I am generalizing too much, by douche i mean guys ocho cinco, media whores. The salaries these guys make is ridiculous, Min salaries are around 400 grand, I mean where can you get out of college and make that kinda of money for 6-9months of the year. and dont tell me about short career, they are all either college educated or at least partially educated, if they didnt take advantage of their FREE education then they are douches

Here's what pissed me off about this:

He’s wrong about the whole “judgment” bullshit. The review official puts his judgment over another official in a play that is reviewed, so why can’t he put his judgment over another official that called a penalty? It’s basically the same thing! You overrule someone’s judgment in both reviews! He’s talking out of his ass. Fucking moron.

just watched this on the total access rerun...

I am speechless. I have been saying with all the bad calls this season, that there should be someone constantly monitoring the decisions, to prevent calls from being missed or bad calls being made.

I would understand the reason of “it changes the speed of the game and takes away from how the game has been played.” Alright, fair enough, also the coach challenges add an element of strategy to it as well. But to say you don’t want a person who has the assistance of technology and can see exactly what happened to overrule the judgment of someone who had a piss poor angle at game speed and not necessarily the specific area of the foul, is just bullshit.

You can tell that as a human being with common sense and knowing football, McKay disagrees with the call. But as a league employee, he’s forced to side with the league and support their poor judgment. He dances around questions and says “I am in no position to judge these calls or decisions.” Really?!?! Then why the hell are you on a show (made by the NFL) for a segment that is supposed to clearify and judge decisions made around the league.

You can see the league show its bias with a guy like Favre. With all of the negativity he has brought to the league, any other player would’ve been at the least fined. If this was Tarvaris Jackson we’re talking about, he’s suspended a couple of games. Essentially the league says "Suh is an aggressive player and plays hard, let’s fine him $15,000 for not taking care of Cutler. But Favre has an abundance of evidence against him for sexual harassment, and he gets absolutely nothing. And how about when Jahvid Best busted that 45-yard run, and he was going out of bounds and got shoved down from behind. How is that different from the Suh-Cutler hit.

I wish I didn’t love this sport, because this is getting ridiculous.

What I would like to see is...

Especially on personal fouls…

Is the chance for the official to ‘review’ the play to make sure he saw what he saw.

That would give the ref an out.

your gonna like this

Avril was just fined 15000 also

The league was always gonna dance around this

They’ll rarely admit a mistake, especially for us.

and if we complain about it, they fine us! Thats like a Dictatorship in my book.

I mean seriously Schwartz even said that he couldn’t say anything or he would be fined.
