There have been a number of posts making the case for Berry rather than Suh as our top pick.  GRLion went a long way in his recent response to Nate D.'s Pholosophy of the Draft post to bringing me around to this point of view - that you need to have special players rather than just talented players.

Here is my concern - is it possible to have conflicts when you have two special players in the same position on a team.  If Delmas is turning into the heart of the defense (the QB of the secondary), is there a chance that we would see a drop off or conflict if we also had Berry back there.  Would they compliment each other, or both be trying to be in charge?

Would this be similar to us drafting another QB in the first round and not expecting that to affect Stafford?  Can you have two #1 WR or do you need a clear #1, #2, and slot.  I know there have been other Pro-bowl tandems at Safety, but were they both outspoken leaders or was one more of a quiet guy who just got the job done.

I am not trying to posit that this would be a problem, but simply trying to ask the question.  As much as I love the Lions, I am afraid I am not as knowledgeable about famous safety tandems on other teams.  Nor am I much of an expert about Eric Berry - is he as outspoken as Delmas, or just quietly the best guy on the field?
