I would just like to throw out the idea of giving Ladanian Tomlinson a look in Detroit. Tomlinson is due a $2 million roster bonus March 5 and would be paid $5 million in total salary in 2010 if he plays with the chargers next season. Which has been reported to be unlikely. When you look at Kevin Smiths injury and the likliehood that he will be on the Physically unable to perform list for the first half of the season. And no offence to the man but De De Dorsey isnt going to be the man, and mo morris played admirably but lets face it he is still mourice morris. Arron Brown i have high hopes for he has good quickness and showed flashes last season but still not an everydown back. And i look at players on our roster like Riaola makin 7.5 million, and Buccanon making 4.5 million who was benched half the year and only good play all season was catching Adrian Peterson from behind which he missed the tackel in the first place. I saw why not pay that money for an experienced stud running back.
I think the addition of LT would be huge to our offense. First and for most it will be the first real stud running back we had since Barry. (Even though i was a believer of kevin jones sadly never turned out). And no offence to them but the backs such as Avieon Cason, Artose Pinner , Brian Calhoun, and James Stewart i just hope that they never come back because they sucked. LT first will take some much needed attention of Calvin because he is a monster but there is only so much he can do when its him vs. half of the oppenents defence. Second it will give Stafford a great saftey blanket LT has been in the league a long time knows how to play the game, great pair of hands, and he is still LT which a few years ago was propably the most complete back in the game, as well as make our running back somewhat respectable. Third i think he can bring a quite since of leadership. When he entered the Chargers orginization they were a joke and over his career he has witnessed the chargers become a powehouse. Playing along young QBs such as Brees, and Rivers. So he experienced turning around a losing team into a winner which the Lions despreatly need. He is 30 years old which for running backs is usual about that time there abilities start deteriorate but i would take a 30 year old LT over a healthy kevin smith any day of the week.
