While we talk about Stallworth ... a WR quietly signs!
Matt Jones... Does anyone remember this guy? He was actually a starting promising WR for the Jags till be got caught in Arkansas with cocaine. If I remember correctly, he was actually a pretty good #2 WR. Jones could stretch the field.
(I totally forgot about him but I signed him last year to my fantasy team as a injured player thinking he would find a job last year. I might be ok.)

As we have been talking about Stallworth... his past and issues... could we have missed a gem wanting to get back in the NFL?
Did Mayhew try and Jones said no? Not likely because there are not many options available out there.
It is the same risk if we sign Stallworth. The key is who makes the 53 player team final roster.

Stallworth
I still think Stallworth is a more promising reciever given his past statistics. I like Jones but there are only so many recievers that this team needs/can afford and it just so happens that Stallworth was higher on Mayhew’s list.
Dopefiend
this cat is trouble with a capital T..we want High Character players not players who get High…
Never give up..we will be atop the NFL one day:)
yep they are trying out pacman Jones….
Thanks for the update.. I’m not as informed on Matt Jones as I thought I was… I forget drugs are a little more dangerous than the alcohol per se… I did not realize there was that much of a difference between the two. Looking at the stats you are right.
GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
stallworht much better
daute is actually a proven receiver…matt jones was just a workout warrior
The beginning of the end of the misery
Totally
Matt Jones didn’t know the meaning of yards After catch. The guy puts in no effort and avoids contact. If the lions want an ex-jaguar, Holt is a great guy to have as a short term solution. Huge character guy and still able to make a few plays. He’s not the pro-bowler he once was, but he’s a great influence on rookies.

i had Holt
on fantasy.. he did not do squat last year… i would say no… but maybe it was Jacksonville’s system.. do we let Chicago have him with Martz?
hmm Holt, Stallworth, WR draft pick, or existing WRs with an extra year in the same system… tough choices
GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
He wasn't setting the world on fire
But he made quite a few clutch plays. Toward the end of the season, there were rumors that he wasn’t happy with the amount of looks he was getting from Garrard. Honestly, if the guy doesn’t go into broadcasting, I think he would be one of the best Wide Receivers coaches in the league. He turned around the WR mess in Jacksonville to the point where he wasn’t needed on the roster. Not bad for one season.

NO
Stallworth is just better. He’s make a good bengal coke and DUI driven. I am glad we missed on that one.
The best there is, The best there was, and the best there ever will be - Bret the Hitman hart
No opinion on Jones
Goddell must have reinstated him due to good behavior – don’t know what the story is. Based on his playing ability only I would say I was never really impressed what he did with the Jags so wont lose sleep over this passover

Yeah, so the thing is people do drugs. I’ve done some drugs. The other thing is if I was about to sign a contract to a job that told me they’r going to pay me a couple million dollars but I had to stay clean, well then I’m putting my ski’s up, cancelling my ZigZag fanclub membership and selling my meth lab. Jones couldn’t do that so I have to think he’s a dumbass.
Last year I thought about it and decided he’d be an interesting project in a Wildcat capacity. He ran a 4.3 and he played QB in college making him a dual threat in that gimmick offense. But he was also a dumbass who couldn’t give up nose candy for NFL money.
Nice name

I'd rather Stallworth
He seems to be a much better WR to me.
The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.
The lions roster
I don’t mine that our roster is fillng up with crackheads and murderes i think were buliding a team not the best people but there good at football.
One could argue that this team does not have enough crackheads and murderers
It’s all about perspective
Why would we want Jones?
Jones was caught cutting up lines of cocaine in his SUV while Stallworth just got caught in a bad situation. The video of Stallworth hitting the guy shows evidence that Stallworth tried to avoid the man, but there was nothing he could do to not hit him. Stallworth also was more productive in his career thus far while Jones had been a flat-out bust.
+1 as well
Based on the story about what happened, that is why he spent so little time in jail. Even if he was sober there isn’t proof he would have been able to avoid the guy. I imagine him being drunk didn’t help, but once the accident happened that became DUI manslaughter.

Stallworth is better
but if Matt can keep it together he can be worthwhile.

Anyone have a link to the Stallworth vid?
I tried looking on youtube, but the only one I found blocked out the crash
The beginning of the end of the misery
Stallworth Vid
Its not available. It was blocked by the courts in agreement with the family of the deceased and Stallworth’s lawyer.
I like Jones.
Young and dumb make mistakes.
Jones is and excellent athlete who is very versatile.
I think he could beat out Northcutt as Slot receiver…. also has return ability.
Look at it this way…. he passed a piss test to be signed.
