I was on mlive.com today and I saw that former NFL DT, John Thornton, spoke out against taking a DT with the second overall pick. Now, he knows that Suh and McCoy are far ahead of most guys in this year's draft, but he still says that taking a DT second overall would be foolish. Here's the link to the article:
I'm not too sure Thornton is either right or wrong. It is true that a DT will not make as big of an impact as an elite pass rusher, a franchise LT, or an electrifying RB, but have we seen a DT as good as Suh in recent years? I still say that if we can't trade the pick, and Suh is still there, then we should draft him. I don't see an OT worth taking, and I don't see a DE worth taking. The only guys I see taking THAT high(other than Suh) are Eric Berry, and Joe Haden. CJ Spiller is also a possibility if he has a "Chris Johnson-like" Combine, but if not, he's getting drafted between 10-15.
Tell me what you guys think of this.
