This guy need a Honolulu Blue and Silver Jersey

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine-featured-participants/09000d5d8168f749/Combine-bio-LeGarrette-Blount

I say that because I think we can get him late and we need a banger. I still think Kevin is a good starter but this guy could be a good finisher and goal line monster. I believe him when he shows remorse and I believe him even more when he gets the ball on 3rd and goal from the 4.

If we can get him is there in the 4th round, in my opinion he will be the BPA and we should snag him.

I've been on the Blount Bandwagon

He made a mistake in the heat of the moment. I haven’t heard about him having a history of poor decision making. If we can get him 5th round, that’d be a steal.

I’d take him in the 4th

all depends on how he runs, but he should go around the 3rd or 4th. I’m on the bandwagon also

CFL

I wouldn’t put too much stock in Oregon fans to begin with, remember what they all said about Joey “i hear footsteps” Harrington. Blount is a monster and would well be worth a mid to late round pick assuming we don’t fill that position via free-agency.

On second thought

Maybe a guy with the name of BLOUNT shouldn’t play for us, that might entice Charlie Rogers to come hang out again…..

I'm sorta glad he punched that guy from Boise

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t advocate that sort of thing most of the time, but I can see where he is coming from — he just lost the first game of his SR season in which Oregon had high hopes for a run at the BCS. But losing to Boise was pretty crushing for someone who gave a shit about winning a little too much maybe, but then they Boise player (I never have looked to see who it was) comes over and taunts him… I might have done the same thing… and he definitely wasn’t laughing after that 1-punch knockout lol.
I supported the decision to suspend him because obviously what else could Oregon do? It was on TV. So I agreed with that, but I don’t really see a WHOLE character problem, just because of that incident. I’d be more concerned if he had been hungover from the night before and performed like shit during that game.

Forgot to mention...

I don’t stick up for anything he did after punching the one Boise player, after that was pretty out of control. But I seriously doubt that would ever happen again… I’m pretty sure if it did, he’d be banned for life or blackballed by the league’s owners and GMs.

he ran faster and is the same type of runner. Plus, the NFL could use a white runner. Cause the rest of us suck. lol

Are you talking...

…about the 5 or 6 personal fouls that Delmas had this year? Blount is a specimen and any mistakes he made were in the heat of the moment with some guy talking crap to him.

In the 3rd or 4th and I would be delighted.

by doctorjcmu on Feb 27, 2010 1:07 PM EST up reply actions

He threatened a fan dude!

did you watch the boise state game. heat of the moment or not I don’t want the guy on my team. Thats just my opinion hes a good back but at some point you have to say is it worth the trouble and I say no. Louis is diffrent he’s a young guy that like to play with attitude but he will grow up and learn better. I just am not positive Blount will.

Yeah I know I've never done anything like that in my life

I know that these guys need to keep their noses clean and do the right thing and all that since they’re in the spotlight, but (personally) people do dumb shit. He’s a 20, 21 year old kid. Shit happens. If I were in the FO, I wouldn’t be passing on talent (unnecessarily) because of a bad decision or two.

by KDawg on Feb 27, 2010 3:58 PM EST up reply actions

He was wrong

I watched the game also. He definitely lost control. The good thing was that there were enough people to keep him from doing anything serious (besides that punch). If he would of been out in town drinking, I’m sure it would of ended very badly. Maybe he will have learned his lesson and not get in anymore trouble…

He does deserve another chance, though he also deserves to have his draft stock lowered and now his bank account will be much smaller.

by coolbreeze42 on Feb 27, 2010 1:38 PM EST reply actions

I am not part of the interview process

or anything but I suppose if he could prove he learned his lesson I might be willing to take him late if he drops.

Tell you what....

This guy is getting my attention…

36 1/4" arm length… 34 reps…. 4.8 40….

Looking like a good LT.

by CLF on Feb 27, 2010 2:48 PM EST reply actions

You hit the nail on the head

LOOKS great… from what I hear though, he’s a combine warrior… His tape suggests that he’s not up to snuff, but with those measurables, I’m sure someone can make something out of him. Unfortunately he looks like a 1st round lock. Someone’s gonna be happy they got Ash.

by Nate D. on Feb 27, 2010 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

Campbell measures up well.....

But he is a developmental LT at the pro level, at best. Maybe if we drafted him to play RT for awhile…..

Not true

Arm length, wingspan, and height all have a great deal to do with what an offensive lineman can an can not do in the NFL.

the mesurables are a equation to a great player. Yes guys like jone drew don’t fit the mold and are great but its very true with lineman more often than not.

He'd have to be developed, I agree

Physical freak though…

The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.

Agreed

I would like to see us get Blount as well, but Schwartz has let it be known he wants players with good character, and I’m not sure he will be willing to look past the Boise State incident.

Not a good pick at 4

May be a good value pick in round 5 but I wouldn’t take a “chance” on him in round 4. This draft is too talented and deep to take that risk so early on. With the record number of juniors coming out this year, most projected 4th rounders would have been 2nd rounders originally so their should be plenty of talent out their and more pressing needs than a 3rd down running back. I believe the 4th round is the perfect spot to pick up a defensive end if Suh or McCoy is the pick. Wide receiver and Safety also warrant some thought if the Lions have already got an offensive linemen and corner.

by Calvin21 on Feb 27, 2010 7:17 PM EST reply actions

Wait, why is Blount deemed a 'risk'?

I don’t know anything about any physical or skill problems he may have.. If there aren’t any of those, then is he really a risk? You’re telling me the guy would be a 2nd round pick or something if he didnt blow up and punch some fan?

If that’s the case, I’ll take the guy in the 3rd round.

by Nate D. on Feb 27, 2010 8:07 PM EST up reply actions

Not quite

He is a risk for the Lions in round 4 since he isn’t an every down back. If we had Kevin Smith fully healthy and not so many needs then I wouldn’t have a problem with that pick.

He’s as physically talented as any back but I think the Lions have way bigger needs then to look for a guy who won’t be on the field on all downs.

I’m against the Lions drafting a RB anywhere in the first 4 rounds unless someone takes a huge fall. I think that position has lots of flexibility to it and with the free agents available, I can see it being addressed soon when March 5th rolls around.

Another way you can look at it, check out what the Chiefs and Bengals did a year ago. The Chiefs signed Charles midway through the year from free agency and he ended up with multiple 100 yard plus games. Same can be said for former Bear Cedric Benson. The RB position features so much flexibility that I wouldn’t spend too high of a pick on the position unless your getting a Adrian Peterson type prospect.

Blount to me, is not worth the risk in round 4. Maybe in any other year he would be but as deep as this draft is especially on the defensive side of the ball. You just can’t take him before the 5th round unless he completely blazes out tomorrow in the workouts but even then, more pressing needs.

My lastcomment n the "character" issue is this

Did he choke a maid while having a sex act? Did he Shoot someone outside of a night club? Did he shoot himself in the leg at a nightclub? I forget what the rec for Carolina (Ray Caruth?)did that cost him his career but did Blount do that? Did he fail a pot smoking test? (refering to Moss) Did he get busted doing a ton of cocain?(LT) Thes are just some examples of what a problemed individule can and will do and as long as they perform for our amusement we forgive all. Sorry I had to throw Kobie in there because I just can’t stand him.

Rae Carruth killed the pregnant mother of his child

and was found hiding in the trunk of his car in tennessee:

He was eventually captured after being found hiding in the trunk of a car outside a motel in Parkers Crossroads, Tennessee. Also in the trunk was $3,900 in cash, bottles to hold his urine, extra clothes, candy bars, and a cell phone.

I agree with Clavin to an extent......

I would not take Blount higher than round 5…..but that’s just me.

I'd take the risk on Blount

by Hyperion Ecta on Feb 27, 2010 7:55 PM EST reply actions

He's a risk

but in the 4th round he isn’t. He’d get a small contract. If he was a screw up he’d be cut without blinking an eye.
