Terrell Owens released...what do you think?

With Detroit needing an upgrade at the # 2 and TO being released without a flinch from Buffalo, what do you think about him becoming a Lion even for one year. He has serious issues as everyone knows but can catch the ball. Him opposite to Calvin is a scary thought, but one that is most likely a pipe dream. Anyway, with nothing to talk about except Offensive lineman running the 40, this should be an interesting discussion for sure. So, TO or no TO?

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I don’t believe I’m going to say this but yes sign T.O. With all his problems, How he treats his QB’s, yes still sign TO. Signing T.O. could be the biggest offseason move for us. The guy put up decent numbers Buffalo for Godsake. He would either free up CJ or have a monster season. I can’t believe I’m saying this but yes sign T.O. and all his problems…

by msivits on Feb 28, 2010 10:53 AM EST reply actions

Agreed

The Buffalo QB’s this past season were absolutely terrible and TO still posted solid numbers. REC: 55 YDS: 829 AVG: 15.1 TD: 5

That’s definitely an improvement over Bryant Johnson

by Kalzilla on Feb 28, 2010 11:03 AM EST up reply actions

Why are you guys talking like that.

As long as we raise the roof on Ford Field so his ego can get inside, he is still T.O. and will demand double teams. You can’t double team every wr on a team if you do then Grew is going to get off beyond all beleafs.

good luck with that

you would have to raise the roof to heaven for his ego to fit

I'd rather drink six molar hydrochloride

They are trying to get rid of a bad culture and you want to bring football’s version of Milton Bradley into the locker room?

No. Obscenity No. A thousand times no. Nein. Nyet.

[...]when Giants coach Steve Owen, a certified defensive genius, was asked how he planned to stop Nagurski, he said: "With a shotgun, as he’s leaving the dressing room."

let me play I won’t try and tear your team apart. and I am probably as fast as him now whats he run a 6.0 now?

by Waitingfortheroar on Feb 28, 2010 6:41 PM EST up reply actions

We're rebuilding

I’d rather draft some young receiver(s) and work them into the lineup than give catches to an old receiver who is only going to play 1 year.

Plus, I don’t know how he’d handle playing with a clearly more talented receiver. He was already complaining that supposedly Romo and Witten conspiring not to give him catches, I don’t want a receiver who pulls that BS with Stafford and Calvin.

Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...

by n4ry4 on Feb 28, 2010 11:30 AM EST reply actions

Honestly, I only would want him for my selfish desire to see Calvin's and Matts stats go up

He wont take us to the Super Bowl but he would get CJ to the Pro-Bowl and help Matt look good.

My thoughts exactly

I doubt he’d ever consider Detroit… but, he did go to Buffalo. I think TO’s options are really limited. So then again, Detroit may be an option after all.

by DrewsLions on Mar 3, 2010 8:48 PM EST up reply actions

He's not good enough anymore

Guy is basically a waste. No where near the talent he displayed earlier in his career. He hasn’t shown anything that would be worthwhile to us.

There was a drop off last season

I dont know if age has caught up to him or he needs the better cast of characters around him like in Dallas, but he is 1/2 the player he was 2 years ago.

That said, I think some of his attitude left with his talent and he might be a good #2.

Like I posted 1st..I would take him

But I would rather have Malcom Floyd

if he's cheap

he would be interesting…. he dropped a few balls but he would be high profile..err distraction. stafford s a hell of a lot better than Edwards…

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

did Walter

get resigned with the Texans? He was great opposite Andre Johnson?

He is good. Slow, but good.

I wouldn’t mind having him. Epescially if we can get a speed guy to put in the slot.

Walter is exactly what you want Flanked. Big, Good Hands, Good routes. Speed isn’t paramount for a Flanker

No way

The Lions are in no position to be signing guys like this. Yes he would help Calvin get more yards and make Stafford look a little better but he’s too old and I have no reason to think T.O. even wants anything to do with another rebuilding project.

When he signed with the Bills, it was mostly for marketing purposes and we all know how that turned out. He was suppose to help that offense take the next step, however, they took a few steps backwards. Trent Edwards was one of the rising QBs before this past season but is now a backup at best.

nonononononononono

Lets forget what he did or didn’t do in buffalo, dallas,SF,and the philly disaster. He is getting old and slowing down. He will never except being the number 2 reciver to anyone, To much money that can be spent in other areas, We need to try to keep a few key vetrans and build with young talent. I belive he would help draw coverage off of megatron but with his age, attitude, ego, and paycheck we can do so much better.

Wow

Right now, the poll is about even (28 yes, 27 no). I’m pretty surprised that a significant percentage of readers are in favor of such a thing.

I believe he would probably help the team a bit, but I also think the negatives would outweigh the positives.

by abnerman on Feb 28, 2010 2:32 PM EST reply actions

I was surprised too..

but he should not be signed, we can better spend the money elsewhere, like landing another solid character WR free agent.

by damnitdamnitdamnit on Feb 28, 2010 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

Guys

Even with all that you have put up there and Yes I totally agree with all of it. He is still better than what we have at the #2 position period! Isn’t it about making your team better? And if it is for only 1 year I think that Staff has the moxi to tell T.O. to shut the hell-up and leave him alone. Who wouldn’t want to see T.O. crying on a post-game interview after Staff bitch-slaps him for running his mouth.

by davis0169 on Mar 1, 2010 1:16 AM EST up reply actions

He's

physically better than any other options on the team at WR right now, I agree with that.
But I think “making the team better” for a year would come at a cost in this case.
As has been the case everywhere else he’s been, the temporary boost in statistics that he could bring comes at the cost of team chemistry and also stunts the productive development of other players.

Personally, for as much as we need improvement there, I’d rather see the them have slightly less talent at the position and save some money and also some headaches.

I don't want him to fuck with a young QBs mind

Hes turned his back on almost every QB hes played with. We don’t need to give stafford a distraction, especially a distraction that can no longer play
