2nd round picks and trades

Last year the 1st and 2nd round drafts were on the same day.

This year, the 2nd round will start the next day after the 1st round is completed.

I'm hoping that we will get several good offers for our #34 pick!  With one whole day (instead of the usual 5 minutes after the 1st round ends) The teams will have plenty of time to readjust their boards after the 1st round and will be more likely to trade up to grab a good player that slides out of the 1st round.

Any ideas on what teams would be interested in our pick and what we would get for it?

I would only trade..

if Kyle Wilson, Brandon Graham, and Iupati were all gone then i would considering trading down a few spots but not too far.

I might even want to trade up to the top of the round from #34 to #33 if Kyle Wilson is on the board, to make sure we get him (and to keep other teams from trading up to that spot to get him), much like we did with Kevin Smith a few years ago.

There will definitely be more interest by teams in trading up to the first pick of the day…..#33 and #97 especially.

if lions trade down the pats have 2draft picks in 2rouend but their picks are low in the 2rd .they might move up to pick a dt or lb.

Trade with the Pats

I really like the idea of the Pats trading with us. They really need some new blood in their defense. With all the holes we have, I feel confident that we can get some good players later in the 2nd round.

I like having one of the first picks in the second

Unless we get a nice offer for more picks I say stay were we are. Trading out of the #2 pick is more attractive.

Agreed

You can find some of the best talent in the draft at the top of the second. (ie: Delmas)

2nd pick

I would rather trade down our #2 pick also, I’m not sure it will happen though.

-1

i would rather have the last pick…

I agree

depending on whose availible in the second round the. the #34 pci gives us a shot a 1st round talent in the second round. You can’t beat that.

My ideal 2nd round....

even if Wilson or Graham are there. I would think a few teams would love to trade up to grad them. Lions make that trade. Move down and pick up a third as well.

1st – Suh
(late) 2nd – Perrish Cox/ Donavon Warren/ Jerome Murphy/ Brandon Ghee
(early) 3rd – Mike Johnson
(late) 3rd – Greg Hardy
4th – Myron Rolle
5th – Joique Bell
5th – Brandon Carter

If the Lions draft this scenario. Anything they would draft after this would be icing for me.

But who would pay for the brain and heart transplants from Kyle Wilson into one of those ordinary CB's?

Do we still wanna trade down from Louis Delmas to Patrick Chung, too? (facepalm)

picks

the Pats have three picks in the second,, and none in the third.
Giving up a second to move up might not be in their plans when a lot of talent will be on the board.
Four starters for the pats might be enuff to help them this year,,,,all the rest is gravy..

by discodan on Feb 8, 2010 12:43 PM EST reply actions

The Pats had four second round picks last year. Didn't seem to help much.

And they had Brady as QB for the whole year. They finished 10-6 last year, and 11-5 the year before with Matt Cassel as the QB.

And their draft was pretty good. Vollmer was an outstanding Tackle. Butler got some time as a starting CB. Brace played some at NT, and Edelman picked up some of the slack when Welker was out.
I think the Pats will look to trade up for one or two guys. They need impact players not starters.

by NorthLeft12 on Feb 8, 2010 3:57 PM EST up reply actions

impact players

I agree, the Pats really need some impact players on defense now. Their stars on Offense aren’t getting any younger and their defense needs to improve immediately. If the right player is available they just might move up.
